Ossie's Op On Hold....

Sharpys top lip

Player Valuation: £60m
Moyesy has put Leon's knee surgery on hold, at least till the International break in a few weeks time. Leon took a knock in the home defeat against Pompey a few weeks ago, but came through unscathed against Liege and Hull in the last week. With Moyesy's midfield attacking options limited with Peanuts still on the treatment table, it looks like Ossie will have to battle through for a few more weeks, before he goes under the knife. Ouch !!

What a pain in the arse. Just when we get one fit, one drops out. Wonder how long he'll be out for?

For me are most underated player, he's a must in are starting 11. Now he's adding goals he's even better.

I think he's an important player with the right players around him. He's got quick feet and can beat players when he has to, but without muscle or support he drifts out of games.

Hopefully Pienaar will be back by the time of his op, but I think Baines can cover the wing, or Vaughan if not. We have cover for a 4-4-2 I feel, especially with Saha coming into fitness -- I hope he gets a good run out tonight.

Awful news, why are we so unlucky. I was looking forward to seeing Arteta, Osman and Pienaar working there magic and interchanging, we are a far better footballing side with Ossie in the middle. He's constantly involved and gives us a rounded performance in defense and attack.

Hopefully the new boys settle in well and we find the right balance in the middle, hopefully Pienaar can also come back and replace him.

I'm not joking when i say i've never seen a player with a better first touch then Osman. His first touch is unreal.

Agreed, technically one of the best English players in the League. If he could get a full season under his belt playing in the middle I think he'd have a chance of breaking into the national team. Jimmy Bullard did it, Osman is a better player.

England lack players like Osman, technical players who can play at a slow tempo. His movement is also a big asset.

Sadly though he is continually moved around because of our lack of midfielders. He should be kept in the middle at all times.

lol, how long can we can keep saying Osman is under-rated? I think every1 is sooo aware of his talent, maybe he does get overlooked by the "bigger" players, but i think most best first 11s would have either Ossie or Pieman in.

Hes gonna be a big miss, hope he aint out for long.

Well he's still underrated by the majority of commentators, with the notable exception of Mark Lawrenson who regularly raves about him and tips him for an England call-up. Can't see it myself, too much competition.

If Phil Neville can play for England, then so can i!!!! I honestly hope no Everton player plays for England, why should "we" get the blame when they massivly under-perform in some European backyard.

I think he is underrated, you only have to spend 2 minutes on Toffeeweb to see that people still can't accept him, they can't look past his lack of strength to see that he is a very good footballer.

He's underrated by everyone outside of Everton aswell, the nicest thing I think anyones ever said about him is he's tidy.

Like Joe Cole, Osman is a very rare English footballer. He's all about skill, technique and movement. He'd benefit England alot but they will continue to overlook him and go for bigger more powerful athletes. There loss our gain really.

Good comparison with Joe Cole imo. This type of player does tend to get a bad press for not being 'strong' enough. Swimming against the tide. Like trying to play jazz at a heavy metal fest.
Personally I prefer Jazz. which reminds me, where's Ricardo these days.

Yeah they'd do well to bear in mind he could also play for Cyprus, and possibly Turkey and might get fed up waiting for the call.
I actually e-mailed Ian Ross a few weeks ago hoping to clear up a debate I've been having with some Turkish football journalists over whether Ossie was eligible for Turkey or not. I reckon not as his father appears to have been born in and live in (Turkish) Cyprus not in mainland Turkey. Anyway according to the reply I received he wants to play for England and hasn't looked into his eligibility for any other countries.

I'm not too fussed if he gets a cap or not. I'd love for him to get one just to say he did get a call up, but the England team has far too many capable midfielder but are clueless in how to use em.

Ossie is just in the same mould as a Joe Cole, Aaron Lennon, Jermaine Jenas, Wright Phillips, Stuart Downing, Ashley Young etc and hardly any of them get a game so, being that he's older, he'll get overlooked.

But like I said, non to arsed like.
