If Everton are progressing as a club he has to be seen as a bit part player coming off the bench. The fact he's getting starts tells its own story. I like Ossie, I really do. I have no axe to grind with him. But he's not up to snuff out wide and you could only play him in 5 man midfield - but who would you drop to put him in there? I feel sorry for him. He's a great servant and a nice feller.

Yep, I agree with that Davek, it's just I hate it seeing him made out to be the scapegoat. He's a great servant to our club and a superb player to have as back up.

He's not just been out of position though he's been well and truly gash and off form. Losing possession. Not putting tackles in. Looking completely ineffective.

Yesterday he showed one or two flashes of the Ossie we know, one cut inside was great I remember. But where the **** are his shooting boots? He used to have a cracking shot on him?!!>!!!

Unless he's on form he should be on the bench. Simple as that for me.

My man of the match for yesterday.

Nah Baines for me. Was outstanding. Considering Carr was trying very hard to raise his game and SmallHeaths... Baines did well and showed them what was what.

Well said Damon. Baines showed his defensive qualities, which some have doubted, and showed at the end just how good he is going forward and how composed he is on the ball. Sometimes I can't believe he's not Spanish :P

Oh come on MD, that goes for the whole team, why single out Osman? Agree about the bench part though, just saying he doesn't deserve to be made the scapegoat. He's a very handy player to have at your disposal. Doesn't moan, doesn't earn a fortune and would walk in every other team outside the top seven.

Because this thread is titled "Osman" :P

I usually give him the benefit of the doubt Belg.

However against Newcastle he was as I mentioned, and then his body language was disgraceful. Hands on hips looking sorry for himself in the centre circle.

We want fighters not quiters.

If he stopped losing possession and getting bundled off and not getting stuck in - he'd make a start at being the Ossie we know.

Unless he does that. He's not getting sympathy from me. Especially after the Newcastle game - in which I was shouting to get him off, and I very rarely do that (that's the only occasion I can remember calling for someone to be subbed in over 10 years, excluding the "Get Jo On!" shouts)

Did you ask for Arteta to be subbed than also, because that was the worst game I've seen of him in a blue shirt?

Nope. Arteta started well then gradually lost it second half. Wasn't helped by those around him though losing it all the time (Osman).

But also he was going too deep all the time.

I said yesterday it appears that Felli and Arteta are still learning to play together and Moyes was shouting to Mikel to join in attacks.

It'll turn. But Ossie's old enough to know we don't accept players giving up. and not redoubling their efforts in difficult times Belg.

Agree with the Belg here, I feel sorry for Osman for all the abuse he gets from the crowd, whilst others have poor games and get away with it.

He probably should be a squad player and can be very effective in the centre but its unlikely he'll be played there, unless someone is injured. Nevertheless I thought he played very well yesterday and was probably our 2nd best player after Baines.

No problems with Ossie, he's a good little centre midfielder and always gives 100%. I was baffled at Moyesey playing him left wing but by all accounts he did ok so shows what I know! Does beg the question when Bily is going to get a game though.

I don't really understand the bad press Leon Osman gets. He has more good games than bad, and on his day he's one of the tidiest, smartest midfielders in the league. That, coupled with his versatility makes him a really valuable member of the squad. He was our best player yesterday.

has a few decent games now and then but on the whole not good enough. If he was any good have you ever wondered why there have been no clubs interested in signing him up.

Nothing to do with body language, Osman simply struggles in that position, whether he's in great form or not, that's always been the case. Everyone but you and Moyes seems to know this, shame really, because it doesn't benefit the team at all, nor does it help Osman.
