I know it's the Mail but ffs !!
Kenny-Dalglish-Sir-Alex-Ferguson-clash-Anfield-1988

Liverpool were still very much the premier force in English football in the late 1980s, and Ferguson made changing that his top priority.
The 1988 vintage is the best Liverpool that I can personally remember - a team that you would have strongly fancied to win the European Cup were it not for the ban on English clubs at the time.

I felt so enraged I registered to leave a comment.

true, ironic but true imo. the mail loves them though - hates' scummy liverpool' the city but loves the red team.

Daily Fail.

Never ceases to Fail on a Daily basis

Someone might want to refer them back to Heysel as to why they weren't in Europe in 1988.

And also ask who was actually the best team in Europe at the time.

Because it certainly wasn't Liverpool.

I wish the media (and Alex Ferguson for that matter) would stop talking about this fixture as a classic. I think to be a classic it has to have some relevance to where a trophy is heading. United playing Liverpool is about as 'classic' a match as United versus Preston NE...another team dominant in days of yore. It's only big now in the sense that Liverpool's bitter fans are desperate to make it a big match, and they rely heavily on the media tits who report it as such. I feel embarrassed for the Kopites. They're so out of United's orbit it isn't funny.

The Merseyside Derby is bigger.

The media snides all live in London. As do most Liverpool and Manchester United fans attending that game.

Why don't they just play it in London. Would be better all round - wouldn't you say?
