Supposed to be starting this weekend covid allowing. @davek as we know loves the Olympic Games and I’m hoping many more of you are fans too. Unfortunately I go back to work tomorrow morning so will only get to see bits and pieces over the next week sadly.

I was hoping the Games would be cancelled. The jingoism is off the charts ordinarily, but this time it'll be full scale national socialism.

If you ever get the chance try to go to one for a week or two. We went to Athens in 2004 and it was just brilliant.

I remember the opening ceremony with the archer igniting the Olympic flame.

The Japanese are getting the Kopite Liver Building rocket launcher this time.

Saw lots of great events but one of the daily highlights was watching groups of Mexican fans launch fireworks and generally make a right old din for hours outside a posh hotel where lots of Americans were staying in Syntagma square. Evidently Mexicans and Americans enjoy winding each other up lol

I love watching a new sport, or a sport I haven't watched in 4 years, and almost immediately start critiquing the World Champion of that sport on the mistakes they've just made...
