….Rupert Lane Park;

Rupert Lane has a fascinating history. In 1908 the Liverpool Mercury newspaper carried a report that stated "Thanks to the munificence of the David Lewis Trustees, Rupert Lane Barracks is being acquired from the government for use of the property for open air enjoyment".
The plot of green that remains in the barracks square is almost the sole remnants of former Everton remembered by so many old inhabitants.

I'm sure I went there for 1st year of my painting and decorating theory apprenticeship .
Plumbers were also in the building.
Fiesty builders derby's at lunch time.

They cam from the IOM originally I think lived in Manchester emigrated to Australia - the Beatles arrived & the came back & begged Brian Epstein to take them on - which he did the rest was history - not everyone's cup of tea, but such a sad demise health wise ..

I agree - they had formed a group in Australia, heard about the Beatles manager & the rest is history - they wrote a few good songs along the way - health wise even their cousin who had a couple of hits dies young in his solo career....

….didn’t know about a cousin, their younger brother, Andy Gibb died aged just 30.

They’ve left a magnificent back catalogue, many great songs performed by others.
