Sorry Joey I don’t remember the exact time line they started to cover the brickwork at Goodison 80/90’s possibly? So surely it couldn’t have been for wartime shortages of materials, or was your reply tongue in cheek?

No, a house I had only two in the road had no porches - I asked my old neighbour why? - 1939 world war two all the builders called up to the war - materials for our two houses were put in a barn & locked up my house was then built in 1946 - stuff had gone missing - our two houses were denied porches = shortage of building materials .... yet on my deeds the house states built in 1940 - My neighbour a local stated NO - both houses were finished after the war .... shortage of Labour & Materials - another house I had - Iron railings Sorn off for the War effort ....
I would imagine the bodge job at the Bullens road was down to shortage of labour of skilled men & shortage of the correct bricks etc ?

Manchester United's ground was severely bombed - Anfield was nicknamed the pit for a justified reason - My late father stated they barely spent a penny on it as they were a division below us & the blues fans automatically named it the Pit because it was such a bad state of repair before Shankly arrived ....
