Heyworth Street once had many pubs. May Duncan's or what was once 'The Thistle' is one of the last left standing, this one on the Everton Park side of the road -

…..went on a coach from there to Cheltenham races once but the bus was late and got caught in traffic so a couple of us got off the M6 and walked off the hard shoulder at Walsall.

Stopped a taxi, told him to take us to a boozer with a betting shop next door. He came inside with us and after the racing we agreed a price for the the taxi to take us home.

I've always found this photo a bit weird. St. Winefrides School(?) (Park Street, Toxteth) is ablaze while children play and mess about seemingly uninterested. From the early 80's I believe.

…I think it was the Knotty Ash Hotel, Joey. After it closed, the building has had a few iterations and I understand it’s opening soon as an Indian Restaurant.

It used to be just around the corner from Ken Dodd's house opposite the village hall ..used to walk 2 miles there with my girlfriend now my wife ....

….yep, after we left Everton we lived off Thomas Lane between the pub and Doddies house. Decent little pub crawl, Knotty Ash, Wheatsheaf and Lord Nelson.
