I remember it. I was 13. The Grand National was unbelievable because of the height of the fences and TV commentary as they handed over to each other. The Irish guy was best although I don't recall his name.
Prefer the flat stuff myself, although I am looking forward to Cheltenham.

This must be one of the most remarkable performances in sporting history:

Cheltenham is amazing.

...lovely memories for you, Mike. The facilities are very good these days as is the three days of top quality horse racing. Your old Grandad would be delighted with how the meeting has evolved.

Yes he would. Always rubbed my head for luck. I think he did ok most of the time by doing so. Seemed to me he wore his favorite tweed jacket with a paper in his side pocket with a happy go lucky grin.

in 1967 when the weather wasn't the best we sat at home and watched Grandstand to see the pileup. Good coverage really.

Any one remember this one or actually was watching from the stands in the dreary rain. Found a clip that may bring back some memories. I had my money on Red Alligator a year to early I must say. I hope you enjoy it.

That's before I seen the clip too!
An amazing pile up!

Foinavon was the Mike Trebilcock of the horse racing world...

Anonymous - a few minutes of glory - anonymous again.

The jockey did a tremendous job of getting that horse to stagger over the last few fences!
