May as well start one, as the winter is looming and for people like me who know about as much about cars as I do about ending up with ugly birds.

Problem - intermittent grinding noise coming from rear of the car whenever I apply the breaks. Should mention it doesn't happen all the time. I've done 50 miles today and it only happened during 2 of those miles, but it's happening.

Suspicions - I suspect it's either Brake discs or something like that. Anyone have any thoughts? and will it cost?

Probably only brake pads, get it sorted before it get's worse.
Cost depends on make of car.
Think my old Mazda was about £100 all in for set of 4 and that included labour charge.

VW Golf 52 reg. I have a National Tyres and Autocare letter here with 20% off replacement brake pads. But I reckon they will up the price to make their usual.

I need it to be done tomorrow too, so hopefully my garage will be able to help.

Problem: That's the Polish lad you've handcuffed in the boot trying to escape I reckon.

Suspicions: Get your underground bunker quickly, before anyone gets onto it. Then in doctrine/exterminate him.

80 Euro this end made, there just Carbon that wear the break pads, i ignored if for ages last year, had to get new rear tyres.

You see I think Mechanics should be taught to every lad in school, its a skill that we all should know. Instead of faffing about in home-ec or Geography.

Such a bad island mentality you have there lad. Typical Englander.

Mate, when I did Geography it was all about topography and [Poor language removed] like that. Never once used it, but could do with some mechanical knowledge right about now. Plus it would stop garage's fleecing the like.
