Obvious Weakness being targetted

When you discuss Arsenal, or the pundits do, there's one element that is practically always mentioned.....the fact that they try to walk the ball into the net and don't put any crosses into the box, even with such a good header of the ball in Giroud. Today, after watching Everton and specifically Howard, Wenger went totally against his style of play.....there were loads of crosses and corners hit into the 6 yard box when they would normally play a dozen or so intricate passes.

For me it was the most obvious confirmation that the opposition have found our Achilles heel....weak goalkeeping and suspect defending crosses.

West Brom did a number on us, Ings in the derby did the same and last week against United we were ripped apart by crosses.

I'm no expert, but I'd say the back four, and particularly the two centre backs aren't confident in the keeper and it shows.

Have we been well and truly sussed?

I can't argue with a word of that. Enough is enough. We have all known it for a while but now everyone seems to be cottoning on. I don't understand why it wasn't a priority last summer. We had money

Fun fact: we've conceded more corners than any other club in the Premier League. Maybe the problem isn't that we're especially bad at defending corners; it's that we give our opponents so many chances to convert them.

We don't bother working on them the manager does not think they are important

Is that not just because both are Left and Right backs have been targeted because they are both inexperienced stand-ins?

Correct. I could stomach that expected defeat if Arsenal had opened us up as they can do to most teams when playing well. The fact that we were beaten by being unable to deal with balls into the box makes it hard to swallow.

We concede more corners because we have been letting teams come onto us and they have had more chances
Correct, because we've been protecting out young inexperienced L/RBs by selecting players that can put in a shift and help out rather than run forward and dive dramatically.

We also concede more corners because when tim falls in front of the ball and it bangs off his head or legs.
He gave at least 4 away tonight

While dealing with crosses is certainly not a strength of Howard, the centre backs weren't dealing with them either. Watching the game, I was disappointed by how many corners and crosses resulted in an Arsenal header rather than an Everton one - defenders are expected to win more than the attackers. It was just a matter of time before they got a goal from a header.
