N'Zogbia & Cisse

Is it just me or is anyone else fed up with all these hypothetical rumours of us being linked with all and sundry. I hate the pre season transfer window with a passion.

I've never understood this "leading the chase" lark.

Surely what is required is for the buying club to contact the selling club, confirm availability and price, then speak with the players agent to confirm wage demands if everything fits ask the player down for a medical.

Until we make that first phone call we are not in a chase, and the same goes for Villa.

Good point. I always wonder that phrase means

Have we bid more, have we spoke to him, have we offered him more wages, or have the papers simply put 2 and 2 together and got as many goals as Anichebe scored last season – 0

Still like N’Zogbia, but I think he’s Villa bound

We were never in for him ^^ It shows the sad state of affairs that two players we never had a dogs chance of signing get five pages of replies.

They've just sold Young so:

a.) They need a new winger
b.) They have the money for a new winger

It's a logical story and a logical transfer.

Thanks for the perspective!

I was initially dissapointed when I saw this as I am hopefull that we will sign N'Zogbia. However nowhere in the article does it actually say that Villa have made an approach.

You are right it is a logical story and an easy one to write. Lazy Journalism.

Exactly, we have no money to buy anyone so all of the rumours that involve using actual money and not buttons to pay for a player are non starters.

This confuses me. Where is the Pienaar money? (£3 million??) The Vaughan money (£2 million??), seriously can anyone answer this for me? That surely would be enough for the down payment that has been talked about for the N'Zogbia deal.

That's what moyes has to spend. Lcab has already stated this in another post

I have resigned myself to the fact that the zog and other targets will have moved on by the time we get rid of fringe players. First team deficiencies will not be addressed, square pegs in round holes, and ossie on the wing. But there is nothing you or I can do about it. So sit back, and try and enjoy the ride. Life as an evertonian....

Whose targets are you referring to here? Yours or Moyes'?

I'd hazard a guess that if N'Zogbia was a target of Moyes then something might be done about it should he have access to the money. It's as if any footballers not subject to endless press and forum speculation don't exist.

There are loads of players out there, perhaps the target is someone else?
