Rumoured to be getting David Villa/Lampard, both of whom i'd suggest would still do well in the top leagues.

As a side, can the MLS ever be looked at as a 'top' league when they never come into serious competition with the European leagues?

I can't imagine teams being happy at the long flight, but then I realised if Porto and a Russian team being in the same group is a nightmare flight regardless, so I guess that point isn't valid.

only if the usa win a world cup then and only then can i see the us start to pull strings and change footy for ever.

I don't understand there is already a club in NY, where will all these new "fans" come from?

They need to start beating the Mexican teams first, which is hard due to how the CONCACAF Champions League is scheduled (The knockout stage is early season MLS, late season Liga MX). Also the MLS teams have salary caps that the Mexicans don't have to deal with.

The league has great domestic parity due to the salary restrictions, but it makes it hard to compete internationally. We're still a couple years off from seeing an MLS club in the Club World Cup I reckon.

There are two. The Cosmos in NASL pull almost 8k a game as well.

I think red bulls are kinda doomed.

NYCFC drawing power will be gigantic. If they could somehow sneak into CL (x) they would become global powerhouse...i know i know...it would need cabinet decisions but hey, all about business
