smith after seeing nugent play in the under 21's he wasnt really up2 scratch, atleast smith is proven and can score goals in the premiership

you never know if we sell beattie for a good sum of money maybe we could get the both???

Alan Smith is a thug, he will get sent off plenty, he will throw his weight around, he will become a hero. Sound familiar?

Tough one. Very tough.

Smith isn't a goalscorer so we couldn't sign him for that reason. But he is a very good player and we could do with someone like him.

But than again, Nugent has potential to be a very good player but at the same time, he has the potential to be a complete flop. At least we know what to expect from Smith.

I couldn't decide to be honest, am sitting on the fence on this one.

I agree 100% with mick on this one, if the prices are the same we must go for smith, but if we can get nugent on the cheap (3m) then its worth the gamble.

Don't forget the experience smith has, CL with leeds and man utd, played in midfield alot so has versatility and unlike others I do think he is a goalscorer he just hasn't often played there for utd.

Well dont want smith were going to end as Manure rejects .So go for Nugent and he could be the next Tiny Tim or Lescott got to be a better option that buying a nutter .

We've six million to spend on a striker and it boils down to a choice between:

Nugent or Smith.

Who would you go for?

Gotta say im coming around on the Smith idea.[/QUOTE]

Smith could be this big name signing for 6m that is apparently being revealed with one free and Jagielka.

Doubt it mate, smith ain't that much of a big name, only got 5 letters, nugent has 6 so that is bigger for a start, and as for van niistelroy, well, nuff said.;) ;) ;) ;)

haha :D

well, I actually (in a miority here) think smith would be a great signing, how many times in recent seasons have we wished for someone to just get their foot on the ball, a bit of attitude and a bit of aggression.

Tie and Gravesen got us to 4th ;)
