We were in the wrong place at the wrong time, coupled with an owner and chairman living in fantasy land. The PL under government scrutiny.

Circumstances conspired, and they were ready to stick the knife in.

we were scuppered by a global pandemic, a European war (of a size not seen since the 1940s) that caused our major benefactor to be sanctioned, and interest rates to rise from a generation of low stability to rates not seen for 30 years, at a time where we were borrowing money to service a once on a 125 year stadium build. I doubt this will happen to anyone else any time soon. Throw in stuff like player X and we have had a perfect storm.
Circumstances to an extend are irrelevant now the punishment has been set out.
A benchmark has been set for future transgressions and £20m will be bust through again if it hasn’t already by others.
Only ‘mitigation’ I can see is how vigorously they interrogate the financial submissions, which i suspect will be discretionary.
Whole thing stinks and anyone thinking future breaches will be treated with an even hand a kidding themselves imho
