Not very impressed

Phil Neville had a really bad game, that cannot be disputed but for all the "faults" last night we were by far the better team and should have had the game tied up by half time, even before we were robbed twice by the ineptitude of the officials,
I've read that Jelavic's injury isn't a bad one and we really will beat most teams on this form. We've certainly improved massively from this time 12 months ago. Mirallas looks like he'll be a great addition.

Thought Osman was good, very good first half in fact, would of had a defo goal if Pienaar passed to him as well, thought Mirallas was exactly what I expected, quick feet, way to greedy, too many tricks but dangerous and at least we know he's capable of a good pass as well.. That through ball into the area to Jelavic was top drawer.
Neville however, as much as I backed him last season cos he still did a lot of good things, is really starting to look his age and he was taken apart by a 'to be fair' very good front 3..
Doesn't help that 4 of the 5 behind him had poor games as well mind you.

No problem with victor here.. He did what u do as a back up striker... Time to give the lad a chance.

We were robbed by the officials 4-2 and the wouldn't be half the fume!

As said tho CM is a real worry.. Hopefully we can get through to January in a good posistion and go from there. Fellaini jelavic pienaar Baines mirallas all link up brilliantly so as much as moving him back would solve 1 problem would it create another... We'v looked pretty devastating up top at the expense of a weaker CM.

Which would you prefer? Bearing in mind we should of won last night even if nev and ossie were weak links...
Personally think its a tricky one for moyes

Oh, and Victor played well, was a bit lazy but scored 2 good goals.

Agreed, Sky gave Ba MOM because he came on and scored two goals, As did Victor and both his goals should have been the match winners.

All in all, we scored 5 goals and gave away two soft goals. I don't blame Howard for Ba's 2nd, When you are left one on one 7 yards out from goal he had to do something to try and put Ba off.

I say 5 goals as according to the rules of the game Jelavic only became active once Harper had spilled the ball and of course at the stage the ball is in front of Jelavic so he cant be offside.

Same old, same old with Moyes.

First half, it was like our impressive start to the season all over again - some scintillating football, forward-thinking, aggressive and penetrative.

But in the 2nd half - notwithstanding the goals conceded nor the 'goals' incorrectly chalked off - it was typical Moyes. How he still can't see what everyone else can see, i.e. Neville is well, well past his sell-by date and shouldn't come close to the CM position, and Osman is never going to make a quality Premiership player (too lightweight, can't kick a ball well enough).

This stubbornness from Moyes was even more apparent once Neville was walking the tightrope, and he should have at least taken him off at that point.

Heitinga should have been in there, or perhaps Fellaini, in the deeper CM role from the off. I hope that in Naismith we have someone who can oust Osman, and I just pray he attains match sharpness asap.

As for Anichebe. Words fail me.

Yet Moyes still persists in seeing merit in those 3. We got rid of some of our deadwood this summer, and we need to see these 3 off as a priority, too.

C'mon dude, you have plenty of chances to criticise him but last night wasnt one of them, he scored 2 goals ffs.

What worries me is that moyes takes so long to change a plan when it's not working. Fellaini played so well up top in the first two games, but got found out to a degree in the past two. Instead of mixing it up and changing things around, I fear moyes will stick with that approach come hell or high water. I think it would be worth dropping him deeper, because neville and Osman aren't effective there.

We played brilliantly first half & should have been more than 1 up at HT.

The criticism of Neville & Osman, ignores that they played their parts in a very good team performance 1st half.

After the break the introduction of Ba was the key, but even with that, Ossies mistake changed the game, that was a bad error, compounded by Tim's piss poor effort at saving a fairly weak effort that wasn't even in the corner, from Ba.

Victor did well & his goal was a class finish, Miralles looked hungry for it & a threat, promising performance.

Baines was MOM by a mile, head & shoulders above everyone else on the pitch.

Now I know why Moyes is so desperate to strengthen CM, Neville can't play 90 in there any more & away from home, when we'll come under more pressure, I think he'll be found out, if we persist with him.

Totally let down by the linesman.

But in what universe are a combo of Osman and Neville a premier league central midfield pairing?

I don't mind osman behind the forward, but everywhere else he's useless. Neville is finished (I thought this had been seen by moyes last season?)

I wonder what the stats are when Anichebe comes on as opposed to when hes not on -- he does nothing ALL game and yet when he does score goals acts as if hes player of the season. Credit for scoring but just standing around like a lump the rest of the time doesnt cut it for me,

Heitinga should be in the side, if i was him id have put in a transfer request to be honest.

Fellaini and Mirallas pure class.

EDIT -- oh and yes we should have won last night - BUT im talking about the players not just one game !

Nail on the head!

Your post was going well until you started ****ging Anichebe. If one of our disallowed goals last night counted and we'd won, everyone would be fapping over him right now. Where you get he's lazy from I have no idea, I've not seen a forward charge down a keeper so rapidly in ages.

No offence but you must have the mentality that as long as someone scores they can do what they like all game.

The fact is that he hit the crossbar from 2 yards out -- YES it went over the line but he should have buried it, harsh but true. The GOAL was a great finish, fantastic full marks....what else did he do ?

He did nothing....forwards are there to score -- YES but they also must be a team player in OUR side or the system does not work....he totally nullified Mirallas by standing hands on hips between centre forward and right midfield so many times....did you not see miralles death staring him while he was left to harass players alone?

Its the same old with Victor, absolutely useless, then he scores...people think hes the new drogba or something....then he starts and is useless again.

Should have been sold in the summer.

Agreed. There are some fans (and probably Vic himself) who just see a goal and nothing else and that means he did well. In some teams that would be enough but the way we play we need more from that position. That said, lazy + scoring is a hell of a lot better than lazy + not scoring. So credit to him there he's found his touch around goal. Plus the celebration was better. He still doesn't get it though which is a shame.

I've never been a Neville hater (quite the opposite actually) but he did not play well. I think we need Fellaini up front but until Gibson is back he may have to drop back. Nevs should probably be on the bench as Hibbo is playing quite well. It's a shame as he does organize the team well and he's done a great job for us over the years.

Officials are just depressing. Why isn't there a "if it's 50/50 it's a goal" rule -- it seems to be the opposite ... they need to be 100% sure it WAS a goal before giving a goal. This isn't the death penalty ... it's goals. People like goals. They make DVDs of just goals. Sometimes the decision might go against us but I'd feel a lot better about the game if they had to be sure it WASN'T a goal.
