Player Valuation: £10m
Just been flicking through sites trying to see how our new boys all got along. Turns out that they all did quite well, as did our other Internationalists - everyone involved winning apart from Jacobsen's Denmark holding Hungary away.

Andorra 0 - 2 England : Lescott (got an assist)

Hungary 0 - 0 Denmark : Jacobsen

Belgium 3 - 2 Estonia : Fellaini (got an assist and a goal disallowed)

South Africa 0 - 1 Nigeria : Yakubu (captained in Yobo's absence)

Cuba 0 - 1 U.S.A. : Howard

Ecuador 3 - 1 Bolivia : Castillo

Well done to the lads, hope that they manage the same on Wednesday and head back to Goodison brimming with confidence.

HJow did Fellaini play? I heard he was [Poor language removed]?

Someone told you porkies mate. The overall team performance was not great, but Fellaini looked handy on the ball, had a goal disallowed, created one, and seemed confident.

Without being too biased he did look like he was a step ahead of some of his colleagues which could have been interpreted to make him seem bad. I guess it is a perspective thing.

Fair enough. I'd heard he was hesitant on the ball and had a bit of a quiet game. I like your version better. (y)

To be honest I don't think Fellaini is a great footballer, he's not going to dominate possession and open up teams with passing ability and skill. That's not his game.

We've bought him for his presence and physical abilities, If he can dominate physically in the middle of the park he'll bring alot to the team. From what I've seen he's tidy in possession, that's all you need from a defensive midfielder.

I can see what Moyes is doing, he's adding proper athletes to our team now which will help against the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Portsmouth. Castillo, Fellaini and Saha are big strong lads, physically we'll be alot better this season which will help the likes of Osman, Pienaar, Baines etc.

Amen to that. We've been a pushover in the middle of the park since Carsley left (and when he was absent from the team when he was here). As you say, if it allows the talented players the luxury of doing their bit in the opposition half instead of having to funnel back to man the pumps then job done. Anything approaching the much talked of box-to-box player with Fellaini in particular will be a bonus. I'm really looking forward to seeing these two now.

I will agree with you there TB, to a point. He is not a great footballer yet. But (as you have said) if he can dominate the centre of the pitch, if he can hold the ball up and if he can find one of our more creative players with accurate sure and simple passing, then they can get back to doing what they do best. Which is,not lose half their game worrying about defending and have fun playing their attractive football and confusing defences. Which in turn will allow our strikers to earn their pocket money.

If he can help this to happen he will not only become a great footballer, he will become an Everton legend.

Agreed, I think I used the wrong word to be honest. He's not a flashy creative player so to speak, not easy on the eye like an Arteta if you know what I mean.

He just keeps it's simple, takes a touch and keeps the ball moving. That's his game and that's all I expect from him. Some people will expect more obviously but as a defensive midfielder that's what all I want too see from him.

I get the feeling alot of people want him to be a silky skills player because we've paid so much for him, I don't agree. If he plays to his strengths and does what he needs to do he'll be an asset. Physicall not many central midfielders will be able to handle him.

So we could go from having a midfield that gets knocked off the ball by a gust of wind to a midfield even Mr T in a tank couldn't get through? Nice.

Hopefully Felliani and Castillas can give us the beef to back up the skils of Arteta,
Pienarr and Osman.

It'll be useful for away games. Fellaini, Castillo and Cahill in the middle would be a tough central midfield. Strength, tenacity and agression.

At home and in European games I always like to see Ossie in the centre, he gives us that little bit of quality.

Howard had a very solid match and saved a Bocanegra own goal towards the end of the 2nd half to preserve the win and the three points.
