Silas

Player Valuation: £8m
That we looked much better bringing the ball out of defence with Heitinga at the back yesterday. When you looked at Jags and Heitinga, Johnny was always looking for the pass whereas Jags was more often looking for the hoof. There has to be a case for him starting more games as he improves how we play, but the problem is Distin is our best defender at the moment and Jags never gets dropped. Where does this leave us?

On a broader issue, with Arteta gone the issue of the "undroppables" is coming to a close, except in defence. The only "undroppables" left is Cahill and Jags and I would mirror your view. You're only as good as your last game and anyone should be able to make a good claim for your shirt. Not really sure on Heit as I ddin't see the whole match, but when I've seen him, I like him in defence and believe that Jags needs to improve a great deal to get that shirt back.

Heitinga gives you that distribution, but he also goes awol marking. That goal was down to him not tracking Hernandez, and I reckon he can get exposed for pace if we play high up the pitch. In terms of our overall game though, I agree, he should be included as part of a CB pairing.

I would say that Howard and Baines fall into the "undroppable" bracket too.

Good distribution from the back means nothing if you don't know how to defend, in two games he's given a penalty away and completely unmarked Hernandez for their goal, no thanks.

Just clone Distin ffs.

The funny thing about Heitinga is that he would walk into most other prem sides bar only a select few. I think one of the main reasons why he is kept out of Evertons Centre Back pairing is that Moyes along with picking favourites loves allignment and tidyness. Not in the fact that Jags and Distin are better dressed, but the fact that together they make the best pairing to Moyes liking. Jags is the rough defenders defender, and as Moyes was a defender he would like a no fuss player like Jags, and with Distin he is Jags perfect partner in crime, fast, left footed and strong in the air which Jags lacks. So really the only way Heitinga will get any look in is replacing Jags which is near impossible, and because of Moyes being a fan of everything catering for one another a pairing of Jags and Heitinga won't last long.

Cahill hasn't been undroppable this season!

I would say the undroppable's are Baines, Howard, Jagielka and Fellaini.

Agreed. A "boys from brazil" Distin is the only solution.

If he didn't switch off when marking then he'd walk into our defence. As it is, he cost us the game yesterday.

As far as Fellaini, Bainesy, and Howard are concerned, there's no one of real quality in reserve! And you'd have to be mad to drop them really.

I dont know what it is with him. He cant get away with that and still be one of Holland's CBs. It's strange because he showed last year against Van Der Vaart that he can retain discipline and stick to the task of marking. Maybe if he's not tasked specifically with it he just doesn't take part in being collectively responsible for marking up.

Jags should have been dropped months ago, hetinga is by far a better player than jags. jags distribution is utter garbage week in week out, constant long balls to no-one. to to think some think he is england class, hahah. not a sniff... for me sud be distin and jonny in there
