Hayee

Player Valuation: £40m
Reports say we're interested. Not that i believe them, however i feel he'd be a good addition to our squad and maybe force his way into the full England team! He's not happy playing out of position at Villa but their squads as small as ours so would need fresh faces before allowing him to leave.

I think he'd probably do well for us, not a great footballer but a good defensive midfielder and works his socks off.

He has that athleticism we lack in midfield, genuine pace and strength despite his small stature.

A shorter alternative to Stephane Mbia so to speak.

I'm relatively new around here, but if I started a thread with the title 'Nobby Stiles', or David Hasselhof', will their respective merits & demerits as potential Everton players get discussed in detail or will I get told to sling my hook?

Nigel Reo Coker? Are ye having a laugh???

He's 5 ft 9 in, according to Wiki. That's even shorter than me (by 1 inch). I'd take him also, but only if the price was right. He did excellently at West Ham, and was a real leader, at such a young age. He could be a Moyes type player, a future team grafter and leader.

But he's not taking us to another level ...

Don't think Villa will sell him, or any other player in their primary squad. At least not until they have gotten some more players in to fill the gap of those already left.

I think he is one of those players who are way better then they have performed. A bit like Bentley at spurs, whoever gets him will get a good deal.

I'd argue he is more a box-to-box player then a defensive midfielder though. If he had a football brain and some dribbling ability he would be ace.

Has he ever performed in the Prem? Didn't he get death threats at West Ham because of his performances?

What has he got?

One of the worst signings in recent years in my opinion. £8.5m.... I wouldn't want him for half of that.

Nah he was excellent at West Ham before they turned on him. The very same reason he was made captain.
Had a very good spell in our midfield as well, but I think MON and him aren't on the same wavelength.

He has muscle, pace, tackling, aggression and more. He is argueably the best tackler and ball winning player in the league. And he has the ability to charge forward with the ball 30 yards, which is quite nice. Only problem is that he rarely knows what to do with it when he reaches the box.

He was fairly decent at West Ham in the Championship - were he was given the captaincy - not the prem. He was slated as soon as they were promoted.

Granted, he can win the ball - but I wouldn't say the best tackler and ball winning player in the league. If he was, why is Martin O'Neil playing him right back?

No. He really was excellent. Even United was rumoured to sign him.

He was topping the successfull tackling stats on OPTA through the season, though that was his first season with us.
And he is playing right back cause we didn't have a right back. Hardly rocket science. In fact him playing RB and given the faith to handle the position is actually a sign of how good a ball winning player he is.

And FWIW, NRC led WH to an FA Cup final and a top half of the table finish his first season in the Prem, and it was after this both United and Arsenal were keen on him. So you really couldn't be more wrong.

West Ham fans would disagree.

"How would you feel, at the age of 22, captain of a Premier League club if you got a letter like that and were booed by your own fans? People blatantly didn't want me to be there."

You wouldn't put "arguably the best tackler and ball winning player in the league" at right back. (y) That was my point. He was even put right wing at one point wasn't he?
