Ahh, yeah, well there are actually states that it is illegal to talk on the cell phone. Which it should be. Connecticut is one and afaik California is too.

Too many people cause accidents because they are more focused on their conversation on their electronic device rather than piloting 4000lbs of SUV down the freeway at 70mph.

I think he said that he was talking on a hands free device. If you listened to the interview they said he turned too wide or something.
 
Was he wearing pads?

*Edit: I found the video but it isnt working. But I have this one as consolation. He was adjusting the mirror in his car and accidently pressed the Onstar button.
