It’s disgraceful that Arteta is a close second in this poll. He has managed one first team game in his whole career. He is in no way qualified for the Everton job. I’d go as far as to say that throwing an assistant manager into a team who are in the bottom 3 mid season is a recipe for relegation . Would be an absolutely ridiculous move and if Everton do that it’s just proof that there is no one with a single brain cell left at the footbll club.

I know, it’s a shame Marcel is using this poll to hire our next manager.

Unai Emery would be a good manager. He is tactically flexible and adapts well to teams. He does well for teams trying to break big teams dominance such as Sevilla which could be argued is the Everton of Spain. He is a cup specialist so could break the drought. Inherently conservative but more direct in attack than Silva. He likes attacking full backs so could get the most out of Coleman/Sidibe/Digne. Could happen since he is in the last year of his Arsenal contract aswell.

AC Milan almost trying to surpass us in the average manager stakes. Shows how difficult it is in one way. Pioli is very distinctly average.

Makes it much more difficult hiring during the season rather than between seasons, you are more a prisoner of who is available, let alone willing.

Of the names on the poll, and excluding the two obvious non-runners who don't need naming, Benitez would be my choice. I don't think we have a chance of getting Gallardo, who would be the most radical and exciting appointment.

he would fit well in here as his away win record is just about as bad as anyone of our previous managers.. I see him as another one trick pony

I'd say that he's about as good a manager as Everton could realistically hope to get.
