I like the sentiment, and would normally be all for it especially as Unsie knows the kids, but the Premier League is tough for a novice, and this season is going to be absolutely manic with all the managerial egos and lavish spending. It needs experience and balls.....that's why I think Roberto Mancini is the one.

I agree, that's why I suggested going for Brian Kidd, as his number 2 who has loads of experience at Utd and City. Pretty sure that city will let him go now. Joe Royal would look after him too. I don't think Unsworth would need much looking after, he's just get on with his job with a big smile on his face. Only problem I could see would be getting the big name players. But we have always struggled to do that. I'm going to stick with this is what I want. I very much doubt I'll get it.

As for getting an experienced manager, I wouldn't mind Mancini, he does tick all the boxes. Have I missed him being linked?

Which is in the main why people are so hopeful of targetting a top class manager mate

You think FdB is a commited lifelong blue and not himself using us as a stepping stone in his career?

You target the best you mcan do, and if you don't get them then you work down the list and a fair way down it you will find FdB - it not surprised you that he hasn't seemed close to getting hired by anyone else yet mate - depsite leaving Ajax and advertising himself as available on a dialy basis to anyone listening?
You make valid points, I get the impression from FdB that he'd come and be willing to build something rather than spend a ton of money and then leave at the end of it. I struggle a little with the buying success thing I know it's the way of the world nowadays, but I don't believe it has any credibility I don't view Chelsea or City in the same way that I saw the United and Arsenal teams that built over time and won everything. I want to do that. Honestly I would love Unsworth to do it but that's highly unlikely

Not in the know by any means nor will ever claim to be but was in the company of a true club legend last night at a barby and he assured me all is in hand and fans will be pleased with appointment it's definitely not a former manager wouldn't say specifically names on who it will be did say names mentioned in media are in the right area but there is a totally left field name not linked to us in media or betting markets who we are trying for, koeman was the only name we chatted about as the esk said was top target and had indicated to us early his interest only to change his mind reckons his agent had the nod over a job coming up next summer when his interest and evertons became public
OH yes, yes, yes, it's going to be better than we all dreamed of!!!

OH wait. Everton us.

His new agent is Jansen who i think runs the second biggest agency in football (and the top 2 are miles ahead of the rest) so yeah expect he has a lot of insider knowledge about the goings on at various clubs in the near future

It's just much more in your face nowadays thats why mate, Everton didn't get our nicknames the mersey millionaires by accident, we outspent the other teams around us and got success via that route, just nowadays the figures seem more obscene than back then

also we have this history thing now and in many ways look down our noses a bit at the new money teams without any history, but in 40-50 years city and chelsea and the like will have that history behind them - like we ourselves do, and no one will even remember how they initially got the success from obscurity

FdB continues to head up the betting market but the club seem to have no expressed no interest in him whatsoever despite his availability and stated desire for the job. Are the bookies even more in the dark on this one than we are?

No to the Unsworth shouts. We need someone with a proven track record, there is much work to be done reshaping the squad and dealing with Lukaku's ego and the like.
Significantly he would struggle to attract players. It's ironic when we have a supposedly bigger kitty that our stock is lower than recent years, I expect a lot of activity and money spent but no blockbuster signings. We will have to be creative. We won't be competing with the likes of Spurs but probably West Ham, Liverpool for transfers. Unsworth as much as I like him would not be a draw.

You prefer watching teams Emery puts out?

I've been used to watching my team lose, emery has his team winning Trophies and playing champions league football, really shortsighted mate if you are actually putting emery down. Considering you also want the United reserves as squad members, kind of makes sense though

Mancini has to be the main contender. He transformed city into what they are today.

You don't want mancini. Haven't said it enough, he is a terrible manager and potentially a suicidal appointment. His main success in his career was winning the seria a after both his rivals were deducted points and relegated. And he picked their best players off that wanted to join him. Before that he was always 3rd in thst league. Then he won the league with city after an open cheque book and playing all out attacking football which noone expected (see Liverpools version to why it worked). As soon as teams found him out he struggled again.

So yeah, mancini is actually the worst manager we could appoint here, I'd happily take many others over him as he would be a massive liability. And that is from a fan who wouldn't turn his nose up any any manager who is an improvement on Martinez, I'd take Moyes back over mancini!
