Im confused - Dan Ashworth is a transfer guru and Potterball is nxt level management yet Brighton finished 9th and 16th last 2 seasons.

Think both are over rated.

Our Kev will smash it.

Remember when everyone on here were so excited when Walsh came? That went well didn't it.

Also Brighton going from 16th to 9th is actually very impressive especially for a club of their size. They’ve steadily improved at the same rate we’ve gone backwards under Moshiri and the dolts he’s employed. They haven’t had to buy multiple “premier league proven” 28 year olds for £30m to get them there either.

I'm not saying Thelwell is the ideal choice or will succeed, but Ashworth isn't completely proven yet. I edge towards he'll do a relatively good job, but...

Were the big clubs in for him? From most accounts now, and there's a question. Admittedly, he did a fairly good job at Brighton, but was it a stellar one?

I'm not knocking what he achieved there when you consider their ambitions, size and limitations, yet has he made brilliant acquisition after acquisition.

I've looked through their signings over the past three to four years and you're not seeing a fantastic report; respectable yes, mainly back in 19/20.

There'll be a lot more challenges for him at Newcastle trying to bringing in a higher bracket of player with clubs knowingly trying to extort NUFC due to their wealth.

It'll be interesting to see how he goes - a good acquisition for where they're as the club although perhaps not the calibre their lofty ambitions matches to>

I'd have him here of course.

Yeah Ashworth has that feel about it for me. As we seen with Brands its okay signing players for £5-10 million here and there in Holland but Newcastles owners / fans will want much quicker results as did Moshers/our fans so will he replicate his success with Brighton with shopping in a different pool of player costing much more dough?

Ex wife of Qatari Prince found dead in Marbella. Yea I know it's a different stripe of Middle Eastern oil despot but I'm really glad they've all bought into Premier League teams. Lovely people, really tolerant
