It's not often I feel sorry for the PL head honcho, but when the PL actually follow procedure and do what they're supposed to be doing, it makes me wonder what is going on in the world. The same Geordie internet warriors would be up in arms and whinging about how unfair it was if they had a fraction of what he has had to put up with from them.

Shame on Newcastle. Shame!

Imagine being a fairly level headed NUFC fan at this point. You’d want the ground to swallow you up and you’d surely consider buying a Gateshead season ticket.
Have to be careful what you eat in Gateshead’s ground mind you. I’ve heard some really horrible stories ...

Why? What do they serve?

They're not like ... Forest Green?

Same story from the same sources as Martin Samuels - all the press now have it as from the attachments in here

The BBC also saying

The potential takeover of Newcastle collapsed after a Saudi Arabian-backed consortium rejected the Premier League's offer of arbitration to determine who would own the club.

The group ended its £300m bid to buy the club off Mike Ashley in June.

The deal was still being scrutinised under the Premier League's owners' and directors' test.

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has now commented on the deal for the first time publicly.

In a letter to Newcastle upon Tyne Central MP Chi Onwurah, Masters said in June the Premier League board made a "clear determination as to which entities it believed would have control over the club" after the proposed purchase.

The group included Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), PCP Capital Partners and Reuben Brothers.

Masters said the consortium disagreed with the Premier League's conclusion that one entity would have control of the club.

He said the league offered the group "the ability to have the matter determined by an independent arbitral tribunal" if it wanted to challenge that decision, but the consortium refused and then "PIF specifically" voluntarily withdrew from the process.

Agree with catcherintherye's comments so no point in repeating them - this is a real insight into what might be let through in the future but Newcastle fans have to move on.

"Masters confirmed that after an impasse was reached in the league’s owners’ and directors’ test, Amanda Staveley’s consortium, under which Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is seeking to buy an 80% stake in the club, declined an offer of independent arbitration."

Fantastic PR tennis from the Prem. That just says blame the Saudis and Staveley – which the Geordies should have done three months ago.
