Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Gross. It looks as if that is gross as well. It's decent investment level, but most of the top 6 spend about that. If you want to be catching up with them, you probably need to be spending 3/4/5 times that over a 2-3 year period.

The caveat in this is if there's a recession in football that goes out of the window.

It doesn't look like they want to replicate City or Chelsea to me though. Or even replicate Usmanov/Moshiri either.
Arguments have been made that it's a good time to wade into football, if you've the money. Plenty of clubs needing to sell players they'd have preferred to keep, just to keep the lights on. No idea what it'll look like after COVID.

Geordies responding to Amnesty international arguing that the Saudi government was found innocent of murdering Khashoggi, bet they all think OJ was sound as well. I went to uni in the Newcastle area so have very found memories of the place, some of the responses are shameful. You can argue its nothing to do with you and your a football fan, but if you use mental gymnastics to defend this regime just because they are buying your club then you are a PoS

Absolutely agree. The state of some of the replies is a disgrace, anyone defending the Saudi regime to Amnesty International should give their head a shake. Thankfully there appears to be more condemning those replies.

Also that embarrassing piece in "The Mag" has been taken down, after they got nothing but criticism for it. Honestly, it used to be a decent fanzine, but these days it's a joke.

I’m hoping you get relegated repeatedly until Gateshead are considered to be the number 1 show in town.

Sounds like he doesn't want Newcastle to become a contender! I feel he also missed a comic trick in being so political, he should have listed off the charges of breaches of staff welfare, migrant exploitation and at the end of it said that the Saudis haven't got a good record in that respect either, so what attracts these people to Newcastle? :)

Whats your favourite Jimmy Nail song chief?

@The Fish said Ain't no doubt.

He's lying... :p

Yes it's certainly a good time to put money into football. However if the general impression was around £150m a season, certainly pre-crisis you won't be moving up the league substantially on that alone.

The reference to post Covid, as anything is possible. £150m a season could quite quickly become massive money.

I do wonder what the impact of oil price collapse will have on City/Newcastle though.
