Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Combination of it making them feel bigger to see a club with considerably more history being out of the way, and Geordies having a weird love affair with the RS
For a lot of other clubs smaller than the geordies, their fans were supporting lfc or utd for years until their team got promoted and have kept the dislike
There’s no love affair with Liverpool. Loads of links with players and the like but they have a large selection who act like complete arse holes when we play them.

Yep, killed the game and crowd by not letting us get momentum with time wasting from the first minute. Targeted Godfrey all game, and basically let us run out of steam.

What I’ve noticed the last few weeks is teams just be patient and let us beat ourselves with school boy errors or players being idiotic. Our fight only lasts about an hour or until we concede then it’s very easy for the opposition to dry bum us.

You can only run around full pelt and chase down for so long, how many times did we win the ball and then realise...what are we supposed to do with it. We can't really score goals or make many chances but we have very little meaningful possession either, we are a terrible football team and have been for ages.

Good luck mate, the better team won, you will still have to buy well though because next season you won't be a surprise, you'll be targeted. Without sounding bitter you do have some really good players, but I feel a lot more are playing above themselves this season, only time will tell like.

Good management by Howe last night. Realised our weakest area would be RB as the rest of the team was pretty much our starting 11 aside from Godfrey.

All 4 of their goals came from his side/his marking.

Every man and their dog would have realised it was our weakest area...

Well almost every man

We’ll certainly need a lot more strength in depth if we’re in Europe and want to be competitive in the league. I don’t see us spending silly money on players we don’t need.

We look like we’ve done our homework, go for the “right” type of player (attitude as well
as ability), with the potential to improve and in positions we need strengthening.

Left Back, another Centre Back, possibly one in midfield and a striker - perhaps not all.

The bulk of the team is what Bruce had, he just didn’t have a clue what he had. Trippier, Botman, Bruno and Isak have been quality. Joelinton is now a beast, Howe has played Schar (Bruce clearly liked a CB in his own mould) and got the team well drilled and very fit.

It’s not taken big money to get this far in the big scale of things. We’re hopefully at the start of a journey.

Stupid question perhaps, but, do you think relegation would help you? You should come straight back up and have the new stadium and a side used to winning. We got rid of some real dead wood when we went down. What I saw from most of your players after the 2nd goal went in wasn’t pretty.

Anyway, good luck, the 1st goal is going to be crucial in your upcoming games.

Yep.

Think the old "longest stint in the top flight, 5th biggest club on trophies" spiel after being irrelevant for decades has other fans with 10mins of limelight playing the Piper.

No. It won't help. Financially we could be screwed

Will also point out the skunks have decades of pent up frustration of being laughed at by everyone. So they'll pick on one club they can belittle.

They'll be going toe to toe with the RS next

Dear lord, accusations of PED type activities and getting shirty about away fan numbers?

We got beat by a better team because we are absolutely plop. Good luck to the equine bothering sorts, they look to have fallen on their feet.

We are only salty because our billionaire saviour failed to do for us what theirs looks to be doing.

Will it last for them? Who knows.
One observation that I would make is that, thankfully, the added time at the end was very short. In particular there were a lot of substitutions and Longstaff probably wasted about 5 minutes sat on the floor. In fact, Gana spent about 5 minutes trying to pick the lummox up.

Looked like a penalty to me tbh and pretty painful (Trippier wanted him to be subbed). He did well to roll back on the pitch; I’ll give you that.
