How can a team that is made up of lower league players be at the World Cup.
They haven't earned the right at all. This is who they have beaten on the way:
NZ (77)
New Caledonia (139), Fiji (133), Vanautu(157), Bahrain(61)
Teams not going (with their rankings)
Croatia (10)
Russia (13)
Czech Rep (23)
Ukrainia (24)
Israel (25)
Bulgaria (27)
Egypt (29)
Norway (31)
Romania (32)
These are teams in the top 32, and I believe they should change the format so the best teams over the 3.5 years since the last world cup should be allowed to qualify.
Or perhaps the top 16 and then the rest qualify. New Zealand are going to the world cup and going to be hammered. We may as well send Luxembourg.
Everyone gets points for achievements, so that is the best way to see who is the best 32 teams to play in the world cup.
We are not going to see Berbatov, Ibrahimovich. We nearly never got to see Ronaldo and Messi. But we are going to see Rory Fallon of Plymouth Argyle.
It's madness, and I know I will get the usual 'It's the beauty of the World Cup', but I would prefer to see the best players playing on the world stage.
The US team were garbage, the league wasn't much better. Then all of a sudden they worked hard, got themselves good academies, and they are a decent side with some really really good footballers.
But they had to play stiffer opposition then who New Zealand had to play.
Just my opinion.
