New Squad Numbers 14/15

Now that the shirt has been unveiled, does anyone have any idea when this seasons squad numbers will be announced?

Given that some existing players may change (could see Barkley to 10 and Stones to 5), I dont see how we can invite preorders for a new Barkley 20 kit when he may well change number making it instantly out of date.

Id like to preorder a kit but dont fancy taking the risk on any player swapping a week after the kits out

Maybe they could offer velcro numbers when ordering, then you could just make a new order for the number 1 when the squadnumbers are official...

99% of the existing squad numbers will stay the same

One thing I will say about Ross, he said in that Twitter question and answer thing he did with the club a while back that his favoured number is no.8 but unless Bryan let's him have it he'll stay no.20. The no.10 will go to someone like Perisic if we sign him, maybe even Lacina. Probably the only change from to existing numbers might be Stones to no.5

Barkley will probably get no.10 seeing as he's the best player at the club in the position. If Traore comes back I'd like him to have something better than something random-arse like no.28, perhaps no.18? Any central players we get can have numbers 5 and 6.

Apart from that, they're fine the way they are.

It is his favourite, he's upgrading his contract and it's not as if there's going to be anyone else playing in it this season

Don't think players are as assed about numbers as we are. Unless it's for commercial value. The only potential commercial cash cow we'v got is Barkley and number 10 would be best for that side of things.

They have lucky numbers and unlucky numbers like everyone else. Being given a number in the first 11 is an indication that the Manager regards you as the first choice for that position and players draw confidence from it. It's a reward and a show of trust at the end of the day.

Oh for the days when the team was numbered 1-11,it made so much more sense when the side was announced........bit of nostalgia there lids,
