'new signings' forum

Toyed with the idea for a while now, what do you all reckon for a forum which new members can post in to basically say hi?

if it means new members are forced to post in an area before any where else, then that seems 'logical captain'

It's an essential part of a forum I think as it provides an obvious place for people to say hello, and equally for existing members to welcome them in.

We have the welcome threads already and many opt to ignore them. Will they be asked a little questinaire, where from, how long supported EFC, fav players, best second team, age that sort of thing?

Welcome threads are ok but it's just tidier if there's a forum for it I think as you can then say hi to each person. My take anyway

Anything you do to raise-the-bar for registering will result in fewer registrations. Even having to 'sign-up' keeps people out let alone having to post in a forum first.

Intro threads / forums are nice and all but in the end does nothing to change the complexion or add value to the community. People will be ultimately judged by their postings.

This is Danny and Dylan's choice surely. If you want simple membership numbers and no one contributing then make it a totally open site, you'll soon find every tosser under the sun posting here and the mods would certainly have their work cut out. If you want a good constructive forum then those registering should have no fears in doing so, everyone on here at present didn't so it should not be a problem!
