Top 4 is still a real big ask though.
It is. And there's no point in us acting like geordies, celebrating player signings like trophies and suddenly deluding ourselves that we our guaranteed top4 (nobody is really doing this, but I'm just making the point).
However, I always remember Arsene Wenger making a point back in about 2001, when United had won 3 premier league titles in a row, and some of the media were suggesting that nobody is capable of competing with United.
Wenger denounced such talk by stating that not being able to compete with United must mean that they cannot compete with the rest of the league (which was clearly nonsense) as Man United would have absolutely no bearing upon whether Arsenal got 6 points from their two games against all the other clubs.
The same applies to us with regards 4th place. The quality of say Spurs' first team has no bearing upon whether we claim six points against the likes of Sunderland, Newcastle, West Ham etc etc.
What you have to ask yourself, is are we good enough to go to places like West Ham, Newcastle, and Spurs etc and come away with a victory? Well, we clearly are good enough but we all know that football can be a VERY funny old game.
But that's the beauty of football. Even the champions lose numerous games and go through bad patches. If we focus on ourselves, and get over any inferiority complexes that I do think exist in parts of our squad, then there is absolutely no way that a top 4 place is beyond our current Everton squad.
We can do it, we have done it before, we just need to get a grip and believe in ourselves.
