We were using it in 1884 (not sure when Ruperts Tower dates from?) so it's reclaiming our history.

It's also a/the symbol of the city so IMO by using it we are reminding people that the city isn't just LFC

You can generally separate the scousers and wools by the liver bird argument.

Those wanting the liver bird are generally scouse. Pretty much all out of towners don't want the liver bird.
