The fact that the club are largely reliant on ST holders putting their tickets on the resale site but don't let the same ST holders buy tickets from the same site is astounding to me.

I really do worry about how the next generation of Everton fans are going to access the club. It seems essentially impossible to get tickets for a kid, or even worse kids, without spending an absolute fortune. If you don't have a steady stream of new fans, how will the club survive in the future?

I dunno about yourselves, but for Sunderland aways the crowd is getting older and older. Which is natural with the gatekeeping of tickets, and the cost of trains/ match tickets. It concerns me too that young working class lads are just not gonna get into their local team. But then I suppose if attendances drop, so will the prices (you'd hope)?

Same here. It's a big worry. The tourist clubs don't care because there's always a fresh supply of one off fans who will pay an exorbitant rate for the available tickets. My fear for us is that when the buzz of the new stadium dies down and the club eventually, out of necessity, makes tickets more accessible/affordable that they will have disenfranchised so much of the local fans that they won't be that bothered about going and that there won't be a groundswell of demand from young people as they will have had no opportunity to develop a relationship or an affinity with the club or the community around the club. I wonder if short term profit will result in longer term problems in economic, sporting and community terms.

It's only £40 for a kids membership to get on the ballot and include them to YOUR email and family network.

So £100 for a father and son or £140 for a father and two sons for to go in a ballot to maybe get a ticket to a game, which you then pay £70 for the adult ticket and £50 each for the kids. So, by the end of your first match day experience you've spent £310. You can't see that that might be out of reach for some families?

No ones MAKING you pay! It's your choice if your desperate for a ticket. Many won't pay the ripoff ballot money in principle and will rise next year once the novelty of our new place has worn off. Personally I won't pay it for myself and kid. Have many arguments with brother who went all in with FB+. Me and the lad only kept up with FB m'ship as we are supposedly on the next release of ST's and get the cheaper prices.

Chuck in a visit to the club shop, cos kids n shizz, a couple of those fancy blue doughnuts and some proper food and drinks and you're spaffing best part of £500 to go the match.

Can think of loads of things I'd much rather spend half a grand on.

I've been in the new blue house and bar coast, both absolutely rammed directly before / after the match as you'd expect. A situation that's been made worse by the decision not to allow anyone outside the front with a drink. Ludicrous from the police / authorities.

I also did a couple of the bars at 10 street after the Brighton game, but they all seem obsessed with having helmets playing acoustic guitars at stupidly loud volumes so those are not for me.

I don't think you understand my point, or maybe you're choosing to ignore it to make your own point. What I'm saying is that the club is choosing to maximise its profits now but that that strategy may have the effect of diminishing the fanbase in the future which, in turn, will hurt the club in many ways in the future including economically. My central point, I suppose, is that we are seeing Everton Football Club ceasing to be a club rooted in it's community and becoming a service provider like a concert venue or a cruise ship. I personally think it's a shame that working class families will rarely, if ever, get the chance to go to the game together. I understand that this has been the direction of travel for some time but it doesn't mean I have to like it. As for your first point, nobody is forcing me to take my family to a game for £400+ (for the four of us), that is true, and I won't pay it. It's a shame my boys will miss out on a treasured part of my childhood.
 
I made the point about our ground being unique in its silence and I think you can see it at Bournemouth tonight. Probably the least atmospheric ground in the league but still noise constantly happening.
