New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

10 of us watched the game huddled around an iPhone while waiting to catch a flight home. We could hardly see the ball but the railings in the Lower South stood out like a sore thumb, it looked absolutely crap. This was in the first half aswell.

without the railings people would go flying when we score, it’s that steep

theyre great, makes 90 mins on your feet a lot easier

The good thing with crap like this is they will itching to showcase this stadium in the champions league. Hopefully with us playing in it

will they go for us hosting a final? unless we’re playing in said competition regularly i don’t think it should be considered. just more ammo for them lot

Our match going fanbase is a deadly mix of two factions.

1. Old/middle aged gammony blokes who are fatigued with Everton and life in general, who just want a moan and a vessel to vent their anger through.

2. Too cool for school uber Scouse Montirex shagging kids who are more arsed about sneering at people’s trainers and “buzzing off wools” than they are about singing, which is cringe and wool behaviour.

These two factions are not only toxic on their own, but they also absolutely hate and are at war within each other. The only realistic cure for this sickness is to purge one or both of them from the fanbase.

Im 1 without the gammon bit and also I never moan at games, not saying im a super bloo, but honestly I dont see the point in spending a vast amount of money to go to support the team only to moan like a lil bish for 90minutes.

I understand that mate. Our season tickets are in the Lower South. But for some reason the fans looked scarce or maybe sitting down. It just seemed to stand out like it did at the test events.

Goodison was the exact same bar a couple of games each season. I don't know why people are making out like it wasn't.
Personally I think atmosphere significantly dropped around 2016, however it could be pretty quiet for a lot of games before that. It's only going to get worse at Bramley Moore, because fans aren't around like minded people. Before 2016, people knew certain areas such as GT4, 3 and 5 under roof was where chants started. But even away games our fans are quiet. I don't identify with a lot of Everton fans now, you seem to have 1 set of fans who view going match as a chore, other fans who just like refreshment facilities and younger set of fans who just stand there with arms folded saying yes lad. Everton became closed club for a while with same old faces week in week out, so inevitably they aren't as excited about going match as those who go occasionally. But you always have to acknowledge being out of League cup yet again in September, get knocked out in 4th round of FA cup every season isn't likely to get fans excited. Brighton won last week at Chelsea, I'd have zero faith in us beating United, Chelsea or Arsenal away. We haven't won at Anfield in nearly 30 years with fans in ground, that's embarrassing.

What about early middle aged blokes who are generally happy and spend the match gossiping about anything and everything other than the match that’s unfolding right in front of them?

I really enjoyed the lights and stuff, it set the tone for kickoff and was a nice surprise before the usually loud z-cars. It was my first night game experience at the new ground and was mostly enjoyable (football aside) until the end when everyone was trying to leave the upper south and the queues were ridiculous to escape the stands.

The real downside was a couple of old men scrapping with each other over god knows what. The two must have had a collective age of 180 as well. Should be embarrassed with themselves.
That's ridiculous a 80 year old man battering a centurion like that, should hang his head in shame
Lets not pretend that Gwladys Street wasn't a sad imitation of itself for the last ten years or so. I miss Goodison and the Gwladys massively but its the memories of how it was in the 90's and early 2000's that I remember foundly. If you're able to remember a boss atmosphere at Goodison from 2010 onwards then it was very likely either a derby or a "big game" in isolation. Because it was mostly crap outside of that. Especially from 2015 owards. Yeah there was still some amazing games and nights in those last ten years but they aren't something that can't be replicated at the new place with a legit singing section and a bit of effort from the club. Getting back to the kind of atmosphere we used to have when football was still affordable for everyone is a lot less likely.
The only thing that would save the south stand is if we had a group form similar to the Green Brigade or Union Bears in Glasgow....Palace are the only ones with a similar thing in England I think. But think it generally works like an away supporter club whereby the members of the ultra group are assigned tickets in a block together and so you always get a few hundred of the people willing to jump and shout for 90 mins all "seated" together into what is effectively a singing/ultras section. There's far too much dispersal of the people we had in the street and that already wasn't good enough in recent years. Maybe something for the 1878 to look into. Only thing is I don't think there's enough want for this kind of thing in our support, due to the "too cool for school/"that's Kopite behaviour" attitude in our fanbase. Noone wants to wear colours and scarfs and go mental, they want to wear their Montirex and 95's and sit and moan

Another brilliant night—despite the scoreline

The result didn’t go our way, but honestly, that’s starting to feel secondary. Going to the stadium with my two kids is just magnificent. I’ve lost track of how much I’ve spent in the club shop and on chicken and chips—but I couldn’t care less. It’s all part of the magic.

The light show and Fatboy Slim were superb, and when Z-Cars kicked in… goosebumps. Absolutely incredible.

I used to belt out every chant, but I’m middle-aged now. I still sing, but there’s so much more to soak in. Just sitting there with a cup of Pepsi, watching my kids take it all in—I’m in heaven.

It’s loud when we get going, no doubt. We haven’t had enough fume yet to truly compare it to Goodison, and while I loved that place, I’ve moved on quicker than I expected.

Can’t wait for the next one.
