New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

I wonder what the issue was with 2?. Like you mentioned everywhere is seemed to flow fine, but 2 just had a massive line.
I think part of it was confusion.

It was all very tight walking round the east side We queued for 5 minutes then people starting to walk round the queue so we followed and the queue seemed unecessary as we joined another queue right at the turnstile and were in and through the turnstiles in 2 minutes.

Seems like people began to gather in that order. But there was no attempt from staff to reorganise things.

Unless i have missed some issues that happened.

A few thoughts for those who haven’t been yet:

I’ve been to all 3 test events and the experience has been better each time.

I’ve been in the South stand upper twice and today in Block 19 of the North stand where my ST is.

I tend to drive over from Leeds as trains can be challenging with other commitments I have, used to park at Walton Hall Park or Taxi club and used Moorfields for all 3 test events. Walk is longer and the cost is more but not too much of a burden and the train is still a decent option.

First test event I was stunned by the size of the stadium as I approached it. Not being surrounded by houses really allows you to take in the scale of it and the fan plaza is fantastic.

At that first event I was surprised by the difficulty to move around the concourse but I felt at the time that much of that is because everyone wanted to wander and explore and so the activity on the concourse isn’t what it will eventually be where we all tend to grab a drink if we can (I never managed this once at Goodison and had ST for 13 years in the Park End.) and find our spot to stand and chat.

Today was much better as the concourses were fully open so away from the food areas there was plenty of space. I walked all the way round our Level before the match around 50 mins before kick off. North Lower was a bit of a challenge to get out at half time by Block 19 as you exit straight into the queue for the chicken place and close to the toilets so that needs a bit of management from stewards in future I think.

I used the steak place in the plaza today, queue about 15-20 mins. Visited the shop before the game (5 min queue) and after similar and inside used through pass which worked great for a fanta for my son. There were queues for beer but this was due to a lack of pre poured beer to pick up which is how it should work, feels like this will be sorted in time.

Used an EBAR after that, San Miguel and Guinness at the one I used, I joined the shorter queue (2 mins) which turned out to be Guinness only which was ok for me, San Miguel was a longer queue and it wasnt clear what was available at each machine. Some signage would fix this or if it stays consistent then once you know you know.

Seats are incredible, view is superb, atmosphere will be fantastic but it’s on all of us to make it so.

There are brighter days ahead. Let’s enjoy climbing the mountain.

It was great to see some familiar faces and catch up with toffees old and new in our new home. It will take us all some time getting used to it before it feels like home, and we know she has some big shoes to fill following Goodison.

BMD easily the best ground I’ve been in to watch a football match, without question - the exterior is incredible, it feels like it’s been there forever in a brilliant way, the club shop is great (needs more gear), and the interior pitch side is immaculate for the match, not a bad seat anywhere, as has been said before. It will be very loud once we get going in there, and the sirens and z cars before the games felt ear splitting.

Hopefully the issues, of which there were a few, are just teething troubles and get ironed out fairly quickly.

They need to address the turnstile issues on the west side, the queue for 2 was a joke with no stewards. We ended up walking past it to get in or we would have been frigged.

Definitely needs more Everton-ing on the concourses to help make us feel home, lots of empty bare walls, posts etc that can and should be done up.

Not enough places to put drinks and food down - shelves etc ( north west area at least) - plenty of areas that these can be added.

There was clearly an issue with the bars where we were (block 247). Queueing for 30 mins before the game before we got our stuff, looked the same issue at half time so didn’t bother.

The beers were poured on one stand so each of the till operators had to walk to one or two staff to get the pints, so there was quite a queue the wrong side of the counter! Also ran out of tea before the game started on one bar….

I thought we would have had those fast pour pints systems behind the bars (like Wembley and the spurs stadium), we had the cups at Goodison but not the kit, seems at BMD we don’t have the cups or the kit!?

Went down after the first game, when clearly there were less people. The chicken stand was closed (ran out of everything I was told). The dockyard bar was open and fairly quiet - asked for a couple of San Miguel’s, was told the machine had broken but bud was available. Asked for those instead, only for another member of staff to find two San Miguel’s from somewhere 🤣 all the staff were sound and clearly some were very green, so we need to cut them some slack.

A few fellas near us were getting a little peed off with them before the game and it’s not a good look, but you can understand their frustration when we’re waiting 30 mins to get served in our brand new ground - it was actually slower and worse than Goodison.

Dont think the friedkins will tolerate what was going on with the food and drinks today and hopefully they will get it sorted out, or fans will be taking there custom elsewhere. All Needs resolving asap.

Transport and the parking restrictions were still a mess as far as I could tell - even when we left near the end of the legends game, the roads were grid locked all around.

Overall, it’s an incredible stadium for watching footy, that has a few teething troubles to sort out for the F&B provision. Fingers crossed they get sorted out quickly.

Escalators broke in South Stand 😂

They were working when I exited the ground.

Queues insane for food and drink, either teething problems or they've underestimated demand and need more vending points, am hoping it's the earlier and not the latter

I got in early-ish and had no problems getting food or drink, so many tills. I think when it filled up and the concourse was a bit jammed then perhaps people couldn't see the wood for the trees and missed utilising the other bars, round the far side of the south stand bar etc.

Also shows people are willing to spend.

This is true, but my £30 odd quid will be more a one off to sample the delights. Wonder how many are thinking the same thing. This might help with the congestion though.

Random question, but can you actually buy a packet of crisps anywhere in the ground?

The south stand bar had crisps mate.

At half-time we queued at the bar for 10 minutes and it didn't move so we just went back to our seats. No issue as i normally wouldn't get a beer at half time.
This is a key point. Everyone wanted to experience and test everything today, and rightly so. My username is because I missed a Cottee goal just before half time in the family club. I never bought anything ever again after that inside the ground. I can last 2 hours without salt and pepper chicken and chips and 8 pints of Bud.

It will settle down. And when the bars settle down, so will the bogs.

Stadium Is fantastic though atmosphere wasnt that good as we never got any songs and chants going

For all the brilliance of the stadium, it was a very poor atmosphere today. Let's hope it's the usual case of friendly apathy and the large number of not usual match going fans. I heard a few people on the South Stand upper try and start some chants but they died instantly.

People will need moving around from the South stand lower, if we find the hardcore fans are too spread out to get something carrying across the stadium.
