My one concern about Braithwaite is that he continues to be overlooked for recent England squads. He might feel he needs the move to enhance his England prospects.

If their first window results in the sale of Branthwaite and the extensions of Keane and DCL, we're goosed.

Their "ambition" will be "the books" - not success on a football pitch.

I mean, selling Branthwaite per se is not the kiss of death if it results in a tranche of excellent players coming in. But the idea that they would spend money earned on his sale on the likes of Keane and DCL would tell us everything about how high their ceiling is.

Correct....98% of the time contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on.

Contracts are literally just tools to boost and/or guarantee a transfer fee for young or in form players. Or, as we have sadly found out, a mechanism by which poorly performing players can maintain an income long after they are useful. Cuts both ways, I suppose.

I can’t see Pickford leaving.

His contract expires in June 2027 - I can see us offering him a significant contract in the next year or so to finish the best part if his career with us.
