Why? Belief is what cultists do, it’s the faith that something wonderful turns up. Rather than the idea that success is based on talent, teamwork and hard work.Let's just believe in Nuno instead of writing him off

Of course he isnt.
He wasnt up for the Porto job or the Valencia job, he wasnt up for the Wolves job, an utter no mark of a club and he got sacked.

If Big Marcel gets him some ballers and he can motivate the players he might surprise people.don’t be silly I mean he’s our level n all.
A club motto means nothing, its just words, a slogan to put on merchandise to sell things.
Aston Villa are not always "prepared", Blackburn Rovers are not the ultimate purveyors of "skill and hard work". Liverpool very much make you walk alone if you chuck a goal in in the champions league final in an amusing manner. It means nothing.
Nah, sick of believing in the latest solution to our problems, and it getting us nowhere...look how we took to Carlo and it netted us nothing.Let's just believe in Nuno instead of writing him off
I will add some balance to that.Nuno doesn't use youth? There isn't another team that used more under 21 players than him last season. Three or four lads from their academy in the squad alongside a load of teenagers from abroad...
And on the 'failed at Valencia' comment... He has the best win percentage of all their managers in the last 15 years or so... He just suffered from the enormous expectations that go with being their manager... And coming a not too many years after a team that was one of the best in Europe.
Anyone else thinking that far from the mess that is being reported, that a number of things point to the potential of a strategy starting to formulate?
The relative speed in appointing Nuno (assuming it's done in the next couple of days), the speed of Carol's exit, and with very little reaction or noise from Everton or any of the players, except comments made by Bale etc hinting that this was not a spare of the moment decision.
On top of that, the fact Nuno agreed to leave at the end of his contract (no compo), the fact Brands signed his new contract not so long ago, and the reports of us apparently being someway down the line towards making a few signings that would appear to move away from the types of players Ancelotti would want and far removed from the likes we had been linked with prior to his exit (Isco, Koulibaly, Rabiot, Ramsey, etc).
And now the added knowledge of James seemingly making noises about being happy to stay. If Jorge Mendes is involved, James would've known all this.
I know it goes against the usual narrative, this is Everton after all.
Richard Keyes said weeks ago, way before Ancelotti sudden departure, that he thinks Everton should get shut of Carlo and appoint Nuno.
Maybe its all just coincidence, but just seems to me to be all a little convenient.
If it is Nuno, and indeed Jorge Mendes, we must be 1 of a very few small number of clubs still with close working relationships to all 3 of Mendes, Kia Joorabichan and Mino Raiola.
Maybe I'm seeing things that aren't there, who knows. But it's worth mentioning.
i liked your post anyway, bit far fetched like. lolThese are the facts.
from what I’ve read, the crest and motto on it originates from the 1930s. The motto itself and its use by Everton probably well predates that.
Was there a lot of merchandise sold then?
My point being that you may think it’s worthless but plenty of Evertonians do not. The aim is to win, and to win well. Evertonians know it’s through skill and hard work. It’s not to just act as flotsam. We compete and strive or we whither.
Maybe Blackburn wouldn’t be where they are if they told more attention to their motto. Just a thought…
I get a guard salute when I go in to work... But I am ace. I make my company money by sacrificing my well being. We need a manager who is willing to bust up the comfort of this easy money squad and sacrifice everything to accomplish it. That ain't Nuno. I'm thinking Duncan Fergusson in truth. Not that he would be my first choice.. but hiring a manager who knows this squad and seemingly has an ability to make this squad tick a little... (from past performances) We could do a lot worse, at this moment in time. At least he will know what players are prepared to work some and who just make up the numbers.Nah, sick of believing in the latest solution to our problems, and it getting us nowhere...look how we took to Carlo and it netted us nothing.
The next manager has my silence and will have to earn my praise.
I'm paid to do a job and only my ability to do that job rarely gets me praise or stops me from getting fired.
if they can not perform then they do not deserve my support. just like if I cannot do my job I am fired, nobody claps me when I clock in.
I don't "think" its worthless. I know it is.
It is 100% not possible to live up to our motto. In principle its a nice little slogan but it is utterly meaningless.
Blackburn wouldn't be where they were if they didn't get took over by a bunch of weird Indian chicken people. I don't think there is a motto that could convey that sentiment though.
