Fascinating story in the Independent today about the Hearts vs Webster case being decided by a tribunal in Switzerland. It essentially throws the current transfer system and player valuations into meltdown and could well be a reason why we have been busily signing up people on longer term contracts.
Of course, for those clubs whose valuation depends largely on the value of their players, I would imagine this would also have implications for their balance sheets and ability to raise money (Bruce??).

The implications will be huge. Player power has moved up several notches at a stroke. Clubs will be under pressure to update contracts, at improved salary levels, much more frequently. And massive transfer fees could become either a thing of the past, or an enormous risk.
