Sharpys top lip

Player Valuation: £60m
Their are many term used in football. But this is one i truely belive in. Players or managers should never go back to a team they have left. Me and a few of my mate were talking about this after Defoe went back to Spurs.

A quick couple i can think of off my head...

Kendall (as manager) - Amazing 1st time, [Poor language removed] the next two times.

Graverson - Well liked 1st time, [Poor language removed] awful 2nd time

Rush - Probably the best striker in the world when he left the r/s. Came back only a year or so later, was never the same player.

So the question is....

Does it work..?

An can you name players or managers were its been sucsesfull..?

A player becoming a manager does'nt count!!

Sorry mate, he was ok his 1st time. But when he came back was a big let down in my book!!

An i never mentiond Manny as i dont want another thread about him.

Plus he was [Poor language removed] both times!!

Andy King's 2nd spell at Goodison helped turn us from losers to winners. And both Rhino and Stubbsy had commendable second spells.

In Turkey until Fatih Terim's reign at Galatasaray two brits tied for most successful manager with 4 league wins each: Brian Birch with Galatasaray in the late 60s-early 70s and Gordon Milne with Besiktas 20 years later. Both made the mistake of coming back. Milne then compounded the mistake by trying his hand at Trabzonspor and Bursaspor and was sacked by both.

Barry Ferguson's the best one...

JR Riquelme and JS Veron for sure are doing really well now after going back to Argentina - probably a lot of similar players that leave Europe after a few seasons...

Shaun Wright-Phillips?... Gerard Pique maybe...

I think a few on here would agree with me, that one of the worst returns to a club regarding Everton at least, was Franny Jeffers. Great prospect when he was here, went to Arsenal for a ridiculous transfer fee but was never the same player once he left the Gunners. I think players/managers returning to clubs on the whole does not work, with a few exceptions of course.
