Never Again

When Barry Horne scored, I flew over two aisles of seats. Remember two nil down, some pensioner walking past me crying while he went to the exit.

I was only just 15, too young to get served in the pubs to celebrate. Back to Kirkby and drinking 20/20 in St Chads, think i might have fingered some bird as well. Happy days, to be 15 again.

You might have ?

Bloody hell lad what kind of life did you lead as a 15 year old where you could forget about giving a girl the prod ?

Fingering someone at 15 in Kirkby. Why would you want anything else in life? Wonderful story

Fingering was the in thing then, no internet porn back then and a waiting list to borrow porno's on vhs. Some [Poor language removed] would keep hold of the precious tape for too long.

If we had the internet back then, we would have played bukkake instead of simple fingering.

I like you.

That is beautiful. We need more tales like this on GOT.

I could never wear that year's shirt again after that game. I swear I puked in my mouth bit when their second went in. Bad times.

HOLA, SAME HAPPEN WITH JULIO. WAS DRINKING 20/20 WITH BIGGER BOYS IN ST CHADS. JULIO WAKE UP WITH SORE BUM. WAS BESTEST 9TH BIRTHDAY JULIO EVER HAVE.

Great read Tubey.

I'l never forget that day i had been playing for my team that day and after my game was sat in the clubhouse and we were 2-1 down everyone was taking the piss out of me and i was nearly crying. So i sulked off home as i walked in the door i put the results show on bbc1 and literally as soon as i pressed on the everton scenes came on pitch invasion. I legged it round to my mates house who had been ribbing me burst into his living room, parents there and everything and proceeded to shout 'come on' very loudly lol.

I remember buying the video(yes a vhs) season review and it kept zooming in on this young lad in the crowd with a look of resignation and disappointment on his face he had a checkered blue n white sun hat on. I still get butterflies today over that game.

We need to stop looking back and being thankful we're not in relegation scraps like 94 and 98. Keeping PL status is minimum basic stuff, not a reason for giving thanks. The present owners and controllers of Everton would love that mentality. It's a free pass for them to carry on dragging along in mediocrity and presenting it as an achievement. It's not. It's shite. It's never been good enough or acceptable and it never can be.

Is it true that Vinnie Jones said something in the tunnel before the game like "at least we won't have to visit this ****hole again", and Big Nev twatted him?

I know what you're saying and I agree completely, but at the end of the day I'm still thankful we don't go through that anymore. The problem is that those days could return under the stagnation we're currently enduring and it'd only take two seasons for the side to disintegrate with no investment and we could be embroiled in it again.

So rather thank look back and just thank our lucky stars we're not in that situation, I think you can look back and learn lessons from it.

But the lesson learned seems to be that relegation scrapes should be the springboard to midtable. We're in limbo and have been for a decade. It's not that great an achievement or reason for celebrating if you get two reprieves from a death sentence and then just content yourself with a life of sitting on the couch watching tv...which is basically what Everton have done with their two 1990s pardons. If we weren't going to do anything with our liberty itcould be asked whether the escape was even worthwhile.

Seminal moment, the memory of that day and the Coventry game broke us as a top club no longer would we compete - just exist.

Older fans like myself tolerate rather than celebrate what has happened since, but I guess if you know nothing else remaining in the Prem is cause for celebration.

Have we started chanting "we are premier league, say we are premier league" yet?

(pukes at the very idea)

Agreed!

Step forward Mr Gareth Farrelly.

Did you know Gareth Farrelly was in hospital with a tumour on his pancreas, he also is still playing for Warrington town at the age of 37 doesnt want to give up, should get him back to Goodison for a pint we owe him a couple even if he was pony

Pretty sure i'd rather be sat on a sofa watching TV for the rest of my life than be dead.
