Your pick was higher rated than my Honeywell but costs close to $100.00 more. I like mine for the eye candy when walking by and checking humidity, etc. I have heard from acquaintances that Nest is hard to beat. So if cost isn't a problem I would go lock, stock and barrel for your first thought. Good luck.

It's the self-programming feature of Nest that attracts me most. The Nest and similar models all do the "geofencing" thing, which is nice.

Excellent point. We all have the Geek inside us. It's Nice for me to feel the heat kick on early each and every morning and not run it all night in the winter. Just set it and forget it. Cost savings for me have added up. So essentially over time the Nest will pay for itself many times over.

From what I can tell, Evohome works better with different type of building/heating system than I have--specifically with a basement and furnace/boiler setup. Not sure there's much benefit to a 2-heat pump setup.

To be honest mate, I had no idea what a Nest thermostat was, so googled it and then typed some stuff which seemed vaguely relevant.

Probably £150 to £175 with a "normal" conversion rate, but yes, makes little sense on your situation.

We've not been in our current house long enough to know with certainty, but if it saves us 10%, that's about 3 to 4 years to return the cost of a pair.
Where do you buy your currency? I'd love to find that kind of exchange rate!
