Just got a new apartment and need two TVs

Have badly injured my leg and on road to recovery so no chance to look at any stores so just looking online.

Would like as big as possible at cheapest cost obviously! Amazon has 70 inch tvs for just over 1k USD....but I was thinking about a projector and a screen like in the pubs....or would that be much more expensive?

If anyone has any ideas on the above or good sites for furniture it would be a great help :)

Projectors are ace mate, not too expensive for value models, one can paint one's own screen to save space/$, but will need a bulb investment periodically, black-out light, and you'll need to do some research re throw distances etc., and have a supplementary TV/monitor to keep bulb usage down. Ours is quite expensive at £300/2k hours, but some are cheaper, but 2k hours is a lot of film/footy.

can get led ones now like.

Samsung F7000 smart 3d tv is amazing. Its more what you can't do with it rather than what you can.

the price may be steepish but im guessing outside uk would be a lot cheaper due to VAT and stuff

Stop showing off Reidy ;)

Btw got our Kelly kettle t'other day mate, 1.5litres of boiling water in 3.5min's from a handfull of deadfall chestnut twigs and two cones. Thanks :)

I've seen a quite a few projectors set up in student houses, as nice as it is to have stuff massive on the wall, I've always thought the quality was pretty poor compared to a decent 1080 HD TV, not sure of the quality or cost the projectors I've seen though.

Richer Sounds or E-buyer are prob worth checking out.

Understandably, they're probably lower end models, or you're too close, but saying that one can hardly see a pixel standing right next to the image of a reference set-up mate.

You won't go far wrong with the Panasonic 50", 3D, 1080p, Plasma TV.
We don't use the 3D very often, but it's not bad when you do, fundamentally the picture quality is superb though.
Panny's really do look like a good TV, especially since taking Pioneer onboard.

Stating the obvious here but the size of the TV should always depend on the size of the room, no point having a 60" set for the sake of it if your sat 3 feet from it.

Depends how big your eyes are blueblud :)

Thanks all for the comments and advice. As pointed out -- how does the quality differ on these projectors compared to a TV?

Also orchard you mention 2000 hours so I guess its rented or is that the lifespan before you need to buy something?

Reidy for that price it sounds a bargain, how big is it may have the 1st row in the cinema feeling....
