I thought Young had quite a good game today but I still don't see what he does that Patterson can do and better.

The upside to playing a younger player is way bigger than playing a footballing pensioner.

Especially earlier in the season when there is less pressure.

But, Patterson has never been first choice for any of his managers.

I'm calling it, like i did with the overhype of Joel Robles and what loads of people on here said about him.

Patterson is not Premier League level, we need to sell while we can and make some money back.

Watching Young, a 38 year old, I just don't see how persevering with a sub par old Premier league full back is better than, per your argument, a young sub par full back who is learning their trade with potential to be of this level.

Especially now that, awaiting the points deduction, I don't really see us being relegated because of how poor the promoted teams are.

The upside is greater with Patterson in my opinion.

Ok folks let’s see how perceptive you folks are, would you agree that when Patterson plays, Everton retain possession better?
Such a pointless question.

Unless you can compare stats of the same team, versus the same team, its gonna be a complete waste of time to answer that question.

My answer would be, it doesnt matter, cos we dont retain possession.

No it’s not, it’s one of the main reasons Everton struggled to get out of their own half today.

So it had nothing to do with Brighton keeping hold of the ball?

I dont mind the lad, think hes got potential, but to suggest he would have made a difference today is a stretch.

Maybe if he came on at 60minutes, but we needed Subs, it didnt matter who.

Who knows, but he is a good footballer, he certainly tries to play his way out from the back and has the pace and energy/stamina to get up and be involved in attacks. It would’ve gave Brighton’s left hand side more to think about

No but he’s a very good footballer, maybe Everton isn’t a good fit for him, maybe a team that wants to play possession football would be a better fit

Every team he has been a part of it doesn't select him as first choice.

Why did they not select him?

Answers on a postcard as they watch him fulltime every day in training.

I thought he should have come on around the 60/70 mark to help try and subdue a wandering Mitoma - by the way, he moves fantastically off the ball.

If Gravel Voice felt he needed to keep Young on for whatever reason, he could have brought Harrison off and pushed Young forward like he did against Burnley.

It was so obvious that they were putting their efforts down their left-hand side, so a tiring Young looked an obvious area of weakness, but he didn't adjust.
