Hip-hop star Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, known by his stage name Nate Dogg, has died aged 41. The cause of his death is unclear but the Californian rapper had been recovering from two strokes he suffered in recent years.

Hale began singing as a child in baptist churches under the care of his father, who was a pastor. At the age of 16 he dropped out of high school in Long Beach, California, and joined the US marine corps, where he served for three years. In 1991, he formed a rap trio with Snoop Dogg and Warren G, and first found fame as a guest on Dr Dre's classic album The Chronic. With Warren G, he had a huge hit with Regulate, which reached No 5 in the UK charts in 1994. In total, he featured on four UK hits and also collaborated with Eminem, Ludacris, Tupac Shakur and Mark Ronson.

God I'm so old... was it really that long ago?

Oh No is a classic tune!!!

Is this really another thread where we just discuss stuff 1 on 1 again? =)

Not sure if that counts as me joining the discussion? :P

When I used to DJ and had a pair of decks, I had "Area Codes" on vinyl.

I used to slow it down to -2 / -4 , about (80bpm) then beat mix it with the some Drum'n'Bass - Aphrodite's "Superman" at about (160bpm).

Area Codes over the Drum'n'bass remix of the Superman theme was immense...

Fantastic stuff. People thought I had a rare vinyl...

If you smoke like I smoooooke than your high like every day... And if yo ass is a busta 213 will regulate!!

RIP Nate Dogg

wow he was a part of my childhood. Used to love that song featuring him by Snoop Dogg- Lay Low. That was the best time for hip hop. Now its just this awful rnb rap cross over. Lil Wayne etc. Even Eminem's sold out. Hip Hop is dead. Its a shame. I used to listen to all sorts when I was younger especially Blink 182 (still do) but used to love hip hop stuff as well.

RIP Nate Dogg!

He was the singer / hook man, on quite a few Hip Hop tracks and worked with Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre.

Not everyones cup of tea really, but had a very distinct voice and was well known in that musical genre.

'For the n*gger who be talkin' loud and holding his dick, talking ****, he better lay low!'

Lol what a line. Loved that song.
