Naismith 3 year extention

I love Naisy, but my Americanness (and his two knee surgeries) forces me to ask this question:

What happens if he's not able to fulfill the terms of the contract? Is there an insurance mechanism in place?

Theres always an insurance mechanism in place.Clubs don't commit large amounts of money without cover. And BK is in 'show business' an industry were insurance against performers not being able to perform is paramount. The only thing you can't insure against is the lack of quality in a performance. In other words, you have to insure against a performer not being able to perform, but you can't insure against the performance being crap.

Well done to the lad on hos new deal and his form over the last 18 months.

Certainly proved me wrong and become a key player in the squad.

...can't have enough good footballers and Naismith is one of those. Not sure what monies he was on but I expect he's just received a significant rise. Delighted for him and delighted for us.

Thanks for this. It's probably a greater concern in the sport I cover, but it nevertheless was the second thing to pop into my head after "Yay Scottish Messi." And @AaronTheBlue, sorry, but I didn't understand the Rodney reference.

I'm not a big fan of giving more than a year to over 30s year olds and this means Naismith will be contracted up to 33. I hope giving these long contracts to older players doesn't backfire and we end up with a lot of aging un-motivated players.

....I suspect he was one of the lowest paid, coming from Scotland on a free. Other managers will be aware of this and he'd be a valuable acquisition for most clubs. It is a bit of a no brainer to get him signed up, he's a key player and the type who will provide value for money. RM will be delighted that he's ours now.

Ah well suppose we don't need a match winner like Aguero or Sanchez to stay in the premier league over the coming seasons,as that seems our boards ambition these days.

This.

He had a couple of years on his contract. No need to go mad and give him a deal that'd take him up to his mid-30s. Ridiculous move. We should only be tying down saleable 'assets' on 5 year deals not someone who'd fetch a couple of million quid.

Mind you it doesn't surprise me one bit when you see another one of this ilk, Osman, secured on a long term deal.

Nonsense. He's coming to the pinacle of his career.

My next prediction (and everyone knows I have form for making predictions that come true):

Naismith will win us a trophy.

Watch this space.
