Anyone ever take this? It is a personality test based on the principles of Carl Jung.

I took the test and workshop today and I had a blast. I wanna hear some other experiences, if there are any out there.

You can look at the 16 types online and no doubt you may be able to find it somewhere. But typically, here in the USA, it costs $60 to take it and get the results back.

I did it for free as it is offered to us active duty members for no charge.

I took it ages ago at university. Can't remember what my type was though.

Another one I took recently was VIA Survey, which you can take for free on their website - VIA Institute on Character: The VIA Survey Center (VIA-IS)

It gives you various character strengths. Mine are here if anyone cares. Not sure how accurate any of these are as I dare say many of us say the kind of person we'd like to be, or imagine ourselves to be rather than the person we actually are.

Had it paid for by my firm a couple of years ago, I'm massively yellow and red and not much of the others or something.

Interesting reading and certainly some of it right on the head.

Bruce, absolutely nothing against your good self, but I took the test that you quoted, and answered every question 100% honestly, but I have to say that the results were the biggest load of bollox I've ever read, and made me out to be this incredible person, who was great at everything etc etc, when that couldn't be further from the truth.

I have to say that I found it more of a test designed to gain information about you, rather than to give an insight into yourself.

A hypothetical example would be something like this:

Do you always consider other peoples feelings?

Hypothetical answer : No

This question may be disguised, but repeatedly asked.

Repeatedly answered: No

Analysis at End: You are a wonderful person who always cares about other peoples feelings.

I mean wtf?
I've just told it ( hypothetically ) that I'm a complete Ass hole who cares not about the feelings of others, yet it's telling me how wonderful I am.

Obviously nothing personal, but the test is the biggest piece of nonsense.

Try it yourself lads and see if it gives you a single negative about yourself.

It doesn't. It tells people what some people might want to hear, but if we're honest, it stands out a mile. (n)

Suppose it depends on the type of test you took, the one I took didn't come cheap mind and was lined at management so gave you feedback on how you behave, are perceived and any potential shortcomings you may have.

As any reference or feedback mechanism it turned out useful, as 99% of the other people who got it done thought so too.

For the record: I don't believe in horoscopes.

Yes, I agree, there are some very good self analysis procedures out there if you are willing to pay, but the majority, including some that are paid for, are more than a little cheesy.
The questions are often more useful to enable you to analyze yourself, than the answers you receive.

Agreed with that, all these fancy HR things can be a bit bellwhiffery but by chance the one you wrote off was the probably one of the only ones I found useful.

It's supposed to give you your strengths rather than your flaws. But I agree, people seldom answer these things accurately.
