That's a very good point actually

Hi guys Toffeesforme here, just wanted to make a few comment really. Firstly I'm a Toffee and have been all my life. Born a blue. :)

I'm sure many of you felt the same stomach churning disappointment yesterday as i felt, when we didn't sign a midfielder. Now i see we spent the money from Lescott, but the actual club did not spend much if anything. Now i know everyone bangs on about us being skint, but it just doesn't make sense to me. We have achieved a good league position for the past few years, in Europe, and achieved a cup final last year. Now i do not declare to be a financial expert, but for Everton FC to say they have NO money available must be a total lie. Now obviously if anyone can come on here and show me how we are so "poor", then i am happy to listen.
Now we can all blame whoever for our supposedly financial problems, but i will not slate Bill. Yes, i am disappointed that he has not got the money to invest in Everton Football club. However he has brought us from the dark days of Johnson. That said i look forward to the time comes when Everton FC is taken over. I don't personally want some rich Arab guy to come in and make us a "Global" force, and David Moyes act like a kid in a sweet shop when it comes to buying players. However someone who can invest in the club and get us fans excited would be more than welcome i feel.
On Lescott, i cant believe we managed to get £20+ for the guy. He is worth nowhere near that amount. Yes he scored goals for us, but in my opinion that was down to us being well drilled in set pieces, not his great goalscoring ability. I look forward to Distan getting a few goals for us this year. I personally believe we have a stronger team that last year. For selling one good player we have acquired three. I know some will say we haven't added numbers to last years squad, but are we really going to miss Nuno or Shandy? Really? No we aren't.
I live in South Wales and get up to as many games as my work and family commitments let me, but every time i get inside that ground, look about and see so many fantastic fellow blues, the hairs on my neck stand up. Everton FC really does have the greatest fans in the world bar none, and i am pleased that i am one of them. This year may well be a struggle for us, but i have faith that we will achieve a good position in the league come the end of the season. So on that point my utter disappointment has now gone, and I'm eagerly awaiting to see us rise up the table once more. We have gained three very good players, and i cant wait to see them all playing in our blue shirt. And i for one will be at our next game and i look forward to giving a fantastic reception to our new blues.(y)
That's it really guys.
Toffeesforme a proud blue.
NSNO.

Hope this hasn't board you all rigid lol.

Hello and welcome m8.

Regarding spending each year, I'm fair minded enough to realise that had Moyes been able to negotiate a deal with other targets, then the board would probably have found the money for him. When it takes as long as it does for Everton to buy players, I think the blame can be laid at Moyes' doorstep as much as the boards, as identifying targets, even if some may be scouted on his behalf is certainly part of his job.

I'm all for the board protecting the finances of the club too, as without them doing so, we may find ourselves one day having to sell many of our players due to debt if we didn't, as has happened with many other clubs.
Finding the balance is key, and sometimes budgets depend on qualification to certain events, hence why it might take us a little longer to establish a definitive plan of action.

I agree that I would prefer Kenright at the club than not, and for us to have an investor willing to fulfill our transfer needs as opposed to a City type take over, where we get a new ground, new manager, new players , but the only thing left of the club are the fans.
My view on Kenwright is of course possibly naive compared to the more politically astute members of this board.

Regarding Lescott.

I think he is worth every penny that City have paid for him, and could even have commanded more.
The market has changed, just like the housing market did, and when all things are considered, it is a good price when compared to the prices of recent players.

Of course this is all down to personal opinion, and it's good to have another member to discuss these things with. (y)

I squinted and saw you are in Wales, the rest was a well worded take on Everton current affairs. I think!
Welcome to the madhouse :D
