My fear going forward - what about the youth?

I wonder if there is a bias because no one has brought six through...maybe ever. I am curious why Dowell hasn't at least gotten on the bench after Bolasie's injury.
Maybe, I think it takes a particularly brave kind of manager to bring a big group of young players through. Ferguson was getting stick at first when he brought through that great group. I think Unsworth was on the money about the next manager sitting on a goldmine.

I think Koeman has wasted the first part of the season playing senior pro's who are either not upto it or on the decline when the likes of Dowell, Walsh, Connolly, Kenny should have been getting some playing time off the bench and some starts. We'll have to hope that today marks a change of approach.

By all accounts he's been pretty poor for the u23s this season. @blueloon or @Eggs will know more
His form dipped because I think he became frustrated by Koeman not giving him any opportunities and he was keen on going on loan. He's picked up a bit recently and hopefully will take some encouragement by what's happened with Davies and Calvert-Lewin. I think the lads a real talent.

Think a loan would be best for him at the minute. He looks like he could be a brilliant player but his cameos at the end of last season showed he's not ready yet. Championship loan would be most beneficial

With Shneiderline in with gana, Davies becomes a good back up option.

Assuming we get a good striker in this window I would like to see Calvert - Lewis out on loan to get more experience before he gets regular everton playing time.

Been saying for time we need to play younger players and the performances will improve. We weren't anything special today but felt we offered more threat than usual.

Sadly though with Gueye going to Africa Barry will come in and no doubt jags which will slow us down and head us back to the old ways

Has Dowell even made the bench this year in the league? Not seen much reserve footy this year so no idea how he's doing but I'd imagine if he was showing anything he'd be in the mix

How's Joe Williams and Browning getting on since injury

With respect he's started Holgate on a number of occasions and littered the bench with youth players who have been interjected regularly...
So it isn't just one game as you put it that people are drawing conclusions from.

I think there is a fair point though that some are making, in that they feel more gametime could've been given before yesterday considering how poor the form of some of the seniors and taking that into account I can understand why some fans would feel yesterday is more likely to be because of rotation rather than any real belief in youth on the part of the manager.

I'd be leaning more towards the belief he will give more game time to Davies, Calvert-Lewin and Holgate from here on in, but I can completely understand the above reservations.

Lets see!

It would be nice to see those 4 getting at least on the bench here and there with some game time before next season so they can be active squad players next season at least
