Personally, not paying 8.5 million for a player with a bad knee, not paying 14 million for a player worth 10, and signing a promising right back on a 5 and half year deal is good business.

This.

Still would've loved them to pull Negredo out the hat though. Would've been Everton's biggest transfer coup since Kanchelskis.

*kicks heels despondently

Nice one Callum. I´m behind the team 100% but I´m really disappointed the we didn´t sign someone for the 1st team. Being disappointed is not the same as being negativie. We really needed the likes of Leroy Fer. I´m sure our strikers would have found their form again given more hold up play in the midfield area. To be brutally honest Neville is neither a good distributor of the ball nor a box to box midfielder. He´s a leader and a good blue, but that´s about it. What´s the point in signing good potential players if they all leave anyway later on because of the clubs lack of ambition in the transfer market? We really needed to build on the momentum we had, I fear it´s going to be a really hard 2nd half of the season. I really hope Stones can begin to play as a RB soon.

we took a gamble by waiting for the last day to do a big deal - it backfired so we have to live with it -
maybe big deals must be put in bed earlier to avoid similar disappointments -
you only go for the bargains in the bargain box on the last day of the sale - but the diamonds are grabbed much earlier by astute buyers - diamonds very seldom reach the bargain box

First I heard of Negredo was from Alan Myers on Thursday morning and he was talking as though it was looking likely a deal would be completed, I got very excited, so you can imagine the disappointment and slight astonishment when I was sat there at 11:30 and Alan Myers was saying they were the only ones at Finch Farm, this lad Stones won't feature much if we're being honest, it's badly underwhelming and left a sour taste going to bed last night and then I gotta say it remained as I was getting up this morning, I was thinking there would be an exciting signing to discuss at work and something that really would reinforce our top 4 credentials, it's just so frustrating the way things panned out.

good write up, kurt has it spot on with his first comment, ha.

the worst thing for us from this window is now andre santos will be demoted to 3rd choice left back for arsenal when gibbs is back. we'll never see his blunders costing them again

Nice one. Here's mine.
Early in the window we expose a 'loophole' to sign Zeki Fryers from Man Utd via Standard Liege, in the process giving bacon face the right hump. Win double. Lets hope he is worth the effort.
Later on we sign Lewis Holtby who is to join in the summer. After a season ending injury to Sandro we bring the transfer forward with immediate effect for a reported £1.5 million. A cameo vs Norwich makes it look like money well spent. His dad supports Everton & thus Lewis probably hates all things red as much as the rest of us.
We actually SOLD (i repeat, SOLD) Jermanine Jenas to QPR while Andos Townsend went there for the rest of the season on loan. However, although Levy managed to off-load JJ, a deal for them to take David Bentley could not be agreed as he tried to make them give us some pound notes in return. Levy is good but NOBODY is that good.
Aston Villa took Simon Dawkins on loan, the 25yr old has been with us 7 yrs & has yet to make a first team appearance & was currently on loan to the MLS powerhouse San Jose Earthquakes.
Ryan Mason went to the French Orient (or Lorient if you prefer), the much loved (by opposition fans) Huerello Gomes went to Hoffenheim, & Alex Pritchard (make a note of that name - you will hear it again in future years - Woolwhich & others already sniffing around as we try negotiate a new 3.5yr deal) went to Peterborough who liked what they saw as he smashed 4 past them in a recent youth game. All on loan.
The fans big hope for a 3rd straight window was the Brazilian Leandro Damiano. Levy tried to low-ball them in a sneak dawn attack, this was repelled yet again with accusations that our beloved leader was indeed a cheapskate. This did not deter the so called 'ITK's who remained busy telling us it was 'all but a done deal' - once again it was proved that the tea lady at Hotspur Way really does not have the inside track with the Chairman.
Many Spurs supporters were too long in the tooth to be sucked in with the specuation with one wag suggesting we were more likely to sign Lee Anndro Battersby.
Mid-table medicority secured. Anything else is a bonus.

Still wish we had the options in midfield and upront you guys have. More likely to get 4th than us I believe :/

Good write-up. It was a fairly tame window around the league. Still, I can't hide the disappointment of minimal investment in the squad given our league standing.

Spurs have strengthened their squad with Lewis Holtby, while Arsenal also signed a full-back. They both had far larger squads than us before the window opened.

I'm glad Gueye has gone, I hope we can get some money for him. He's shown very little indeed to justify our keeping him.
