It’s the Cybi coastal race, there’s a full marathon and the 25k half. I’ve not gone into this blindly though, I’ve given myself 7 months to train for it so I’m hoping by then I will be a bit lighter and slimmer. I have no real expectations about the run but would like to complete it just so I can say “yeah I done that”. The last couple of miles though are up and over the mountain then down the other side, that will be the most gruelling after having already run 20k
Sign up as well mate and laugh at the fat welshy as he wobbles up the hill and you jog past him.Just looked up the route.
Just accept that like virtually everybody else, you’re going to walk up that big climb at the end.
The rest of it looks okay though, gently undulating, with good surfaces.
The only thing that might come into play, is the wind with it being slap bang on the coast.
Btw, are you doing a sponsored run?Hi all, so, at 50 years old I’ve decided to sign up and enter a 25k trail race. I’ve never run that distance before so it will be challenging, now the race isn’t until August 1st 2026 so I have 7 months to train to be able to take part. In my younger years I’ve always loved running, never competitive but I have entered a few organised races. Now, I’m 50 years old, 6 foot tall and currently weigh about 17 stone, the heaviest I’ve ever been. I don’t mind my weight to be honest as I’m still able to do most things I want to do ….. except running. I’ve had a lifetime playing football and keeping fit, but after Covid things changed. I played my last competitive game of football at 46 years old and have basically done nothing since. So, I’m starting this thread more for my benefit than anyone else’s as a record of my progression over the next few months, not to everyone’s interest I appreciate but it may help me.
PS… I can’t do any training this week as I’m away at work Monday for 4 daysbut will be on it after that.
TLDR
It should be fine fingers crossed, August time so the weather should be kindJust looked up the route.
