Cher Lloyd says she is the 'happiest girl alive' after her debut single Swagger Jagger beat fellow X Factor alumni JLS to reach number one in the UK charts.

Cher's single went straight to the top of the singles chart, despite being widely criticised by music fans, who were disappointed in the song and its video.
As the 18-year-old celebrated her first ever number one, she took to Twitter to thank her fans, saying: 'I'm the happiest girl alive! Thank you for supporting me, and buying the single! This is the best thing thats ever happened to me! [sic].'

Cher's success means that JLS' single She Makes Me Wanna featuring Dev. was toppled from the number one spot, despite a campaign by the boyband's fans to keep Cher from the position.

This week's top ten features two other new entries – Little Bad Girl by DJ David Guetta and rappers Cruz and Ludacris climbed to No.6 from last week’s 13 while Brighton hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks went from 20 to No.9 with Down With The Trumpets.

The UK albums chart was again dominated by Amy Winehouse, who died two weeks ago at the age of 27. Her 2006 album Back To Black is now number one for the second week running.

Fairly sure the charts died the day Mr Blobby reached number 1.

Nah that was a near fatal stabbing. "Shaddapa Your Face" was GBH too, but music soldiered on.

However... this...

... is a gunshot to the head from close range.
