I'll share two of my favourite hiphop albums as I've been listening to them a lot again lately

Both great LPs, Vaudeville Villain is one of DOOM'S albums I go back to often. The whole time travel/ sci-fi aesthetics is so rare in hip-hop.
Wished I started listening to him a lot earlier

The best suggestions will come from people who know a wide selection of music or know you well. Despite being entirely unqualified I’ll offer some of my favorites in a few genres.

Radiohead - Kid A. An indescribably beautiful album unlike anything you’ve heard (unless you’ve heard it before.) all of Radiohead is worth listening but this is probably their apex.

Max Richter - modern composer of “classical” music. Mostly shorter pieces. Pleasant soundscapes.

Talking Heads - just buy or rent Stop Making Sense and watch the full set. You’ll be transfixed.

Dave Brubeck / Miles Davis - I don’t understand jazz as much as I’d like but these are spectacular.

Marvin Gaye - one of the most beautiful voices ever.

LCD Soundsystem - I like ‘em. Genre is… sarcastic club music?

Cake - talented band that doesn’t take themselves seriously at all. Very fun, a Yank country/alt rock sound. Many (most?) songs have a yee-haw inserted somewhere.

REM - Automatic for the People. Very unique Americana sound, even for them.

Yes, one of the first originators of rap.

Any rapper who touches on social issues will have been massively influenced by him, especially somebody like Kendrick
